   This was our second visit in about six months. As locals we wanted to wait until the wave of visitors had passed to spend a quiet evening without a crowd. My steak & frites was good but my wife’s mussels special was abysmal. To produce a poor mussels dish in Kennebunkport has to take some effort and as a Frenchman whose passion in cooking I take offense when an otherwise elementary Meridional dish is so badly executed. The mussels were average in size (which is good) but the sauce was neither creamy nor unique. The dish was bland and for a basic dish at a wannabe French restaurant where your your cheapest red Bordeaux “Chateau Brandeau du Tertre 2020” will set you back by $65 (Wine Enthusiast’s price is $16), it does not cut it. Lastly, this time around I refused to re-order crème brȗlée because they can’t even handle the cream . Take note, it is a recipe: egg yolk, sugar & whipping cream. Voilà!

   Lighting could be dimmer. Sat in the room facing the kitchen and it was too bright.

   The food and service have been excellent every time we’ve gone to Chez Rosa. Tonight we chose steak frites and the gnocchi. Both were excellent. Although we didn’t order the cheese fondue tonight, we noticed several tables did, and it looks delicious. Can’t wait to try it next time!

   Chez Rosa is the place to go for a nice night out. My wife and I have them at the top of our list, regardless of the other places in the area. It's our go-to spot to guarantee a fantastic french dinner night out. They create dishes and drinks with ingredients that you might not think go together but then you see a gin drink with citrus, fennel and black pepper simple syrup that blows your mind. Even foods I don't like the taste of I make sure to try at Chez Rosa because I know if I'm ever going to like it it's here.

   The meal and service from start to finish was excellent- the salad course was inventive, the duck in puff pastry was unbelievable and the dessert course (warm brownie with passion fruit mousse) was SO good!! I could not have been happier with my choices. I highly recommend Chez Rosa- for a celebratory dinner or just for any night. Outstanding
