Heralded as a "meat speakeasy" by Food & Wine Magazine, chi SPACCA has come to represent the quintessential new Italian dining experience, where accompaniments like the Foccacia di Recco, warm salted Medjool dates, and Culatello & Puglia burrata are just sideshows for the rest of Chef Armen Ayvazyan's wood-fired menu which features a 42-ounce Tomahawk pork chop, a 36-ounce dry-aged bone-in New York Costata alla Fiorentina, and a 50-ounce dry-aged porterhouse Bistecca Fiorentina.

Enchanted by the artistry of Italian salumi culture, we built the first “dry cure” program in Los Angeles so that we could experiment and perfect Italian charcuterie techniques in house.

    MICHELIN Plate

    2022

From the OpenTable editors: Anyone who can’t imagine a celebration dinner without meat – and lots of it – should go straight to this upscale Tuscan steakhouse. Part of chef Nancy Silverton’s Mozza empire, Chi Spacca zeroes in on butcher-inspired mains like a 50-ounce bistecca Fiorentina and tomahawk pork chop. The supporting characters on the menu are just as impressive, and so is the massive Italian wine list. Add a candlelit dining room, and you’ve got all the essentials for a big night out.

Only drawback.. wish the maitre’d took action to stop 2 children from continously running around the restaurant, not only for the safety issue of hot plates & knives, but these kids were a nuisance! It was a Chinese family, the parents could care less (typical behavior) & really partition ruined our parties vibe. I was ready to make a move to tell off the parents but held back.. we’re not at IHOP for christs sake! The host did see this happening , it’s a small restaurant, but did nothing about it. Hopefully this will not happen again! Btw I’m Asian myself & see this type of wanton disregard by Chinese parents in regards to their children’s behavior on planes, cruises, trains etc… I’ve seen it one too many times, never thought I’d see it at this type of establishment…it’s disgusting & pathetic behavior!

Delicious and interesting food provided with truly outstanding service! The host, server Michael, and busser were just all superb. The restaurant is small and intimate. Four chefs work in a spotless, open kitchen immediately adjacent to the eating area. The noise level got a bit high (hardwood floors and hard surfaces throughout) when the seating filled up but it was not problematic. The cost for dinner for two totaled $250 which included all courses, salad, starters, sides, two desserts, coffee and 20% tip. Not cheap in my view, but worth every penny.

Had the salad with herbs and lemon vinaigrette and the chicken. Huge portions and very delicious. Saved room for dessert, which I usually skip. Lemon tart with huckleberry sauce and meringue was totally worth it. Good wine as well. Wanted to try the steak, but there aren’t any options for light eaters or solo diners.

We are so thrilled to hear you loved your meal and hope to see you soon. While we typically do offer an 8oz hanger steak as a staple on the menu, your note is certainly helpful to us, and we greatly appreciate the feedback. Until next time, Greer

We came here primarily to try the Focaccia di Recco. That was amazing. Crispy crust on the outside filled with oozing cheese. The rest of the meal not so great. Maybe it was because the top folks running the restaurant may not have been there due to the fire in LA. But the pork tomahawk may have been brined too long - it was very salty. Also not completely cooked in some spots (meaning very pink not a little pink) as they grill it on an open fire - uneven cooking. Broccoli with lemon and garlic - way too lemony - overpowering. We will definitely try it again if just for the focaccia.

Excellent but too expensive. There are other great steaks available in town for half as much per person. Bread shouldn’t be $18 for 1/4 loaf of sourdough.

Our NYE dinner at Chi Spacca was excellent. The service was impeccable and the food was delicious. We had the charcuterie, Caesar salad, bread w burrata, steak and pistachio ice cream. YUM! And the wine was good too. :)
