    I was seated on time for my rsvp. My drinks and food were all on my table within 10 minutes and they had a dining room was busy. I left full with a togo!!!

    We celebrated our anniversary at ChopnBlok this week, and it did not disappoint. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed. Every staff member was wearing a genuine smile for the duration of our visit. Super helpful, friendly, courteous and kind. I had the Black Star - the shrimp were cooked perfectly and that curry was divine. My husband had the Buka and ate every bite of that delicious short rib. We got there at the tail end of happy hour and enjoyed two delicious appetizers, too - the mini meat pies, and a selection of curries, plantains, and blok chicken. This cuisine is so unique and so flavorful, I cannot WAIT to return to try something new. The decor is beautiful and reflects the culture of the cuisine. Well done!

    I wandered into this restaurant with no expectations. It was comfortable and people were happy. I was seated right away, had a fantastic sweet waiter, and ordered off the happy hour menu. Each bite was a treat, and was unexpected and fresh. As it got later, it got louder as the place filled up with people and a DJ showed up (every Monday). I was alone, so I wasn’t trying to talk (it would be hard to do that although all the happy shouting people around me were not deterred)! I was about to ask for the check when the waiter asked me about having dessert. I don’t typically do dessert but he said, “we only have one—plantain bread.” Curious, and so pleased with my other three small dishes (plantain chips and greens, a curry with fried black-eyed peas, and the coconut chicken), I said, “why not?” The nuts were perfectly toasted and the bread was simultaneously crunchy around the edges, chewy, and light—I can’t imagine how the chef achieved that exquisite texture. The bites were perfect, the people energetic and joyful, and the music was thumping. A perfect meal and I will definitely be back!

    We were not notified of the 90 minute limit on tables. We ended up getting a round of drinks and immediately told we needed to vacate the table and then the drinks arrived and had to move to a community table. Overall it was good.

    Excellent food. Everything I put in my mouth was a new taste to me. I will definitely be going back! My wife left her purse, and the staff called about ten minutes later, and we went back and got it .... very much appreciated. In general, the staff could not have been nicer.

    Sat outside, nice patio, last minute booking so inside was full. It was a little cold, but they had heaters. Had green goddess and a few appetizers. There were lots of plantains. It was a little a little salty for my liking, but delicious!

    I'm a big fan of everything Ope Amosu is doing with his restaurant. It's something unique in our corner of Houston. Proud to support a fellow Rice grad in a great endeavor. Consistently well prepared flavorful food.
