Service was very slow ( half hour before starter, another hour before mains) considering the meal choice was pre-booked and there were a total of four diners in the room! The waiter/barman was friendly and courteous. No complaints there. Our festive meal had clearly been standing around a long time before serving. The roast potatoes were inedible. Huge off putting thick slabs of turkey on the plate. Undercooked broccoli.

We had booked the festive menu for 2 people and even confirmed our food choices the night before by email. Unfortunately because they were busy at the weekend, we couldn't have any of our choices including the turkey lunch. However, the staff made up for it by offering us choices on the a la carte and gave us complimentary drinks and extra roast veg with our meals. They looked after us very well. We were the only ones in the dining area so it didn't feel festive but that's not their fault. There was music and decorations though.

1 Booking table was a non-event. The staff member seemed not to have any knowledge of that. Tables were available so no problem. 2 Noise level was very high. 'lively' is not how I would describe it. Conversation was difficult. We will not return. 3 Wait for food far too long. About 40mins. 4 Food good.

A good drinking pub - well-kept proper beers at a reasonable price for central London - but give food a miss. Many menu items were unavailable and what was served was of adequate quality, but no more, and was expensive given the small portions and ordinariness.

Visiting London for the weekend. Did a search online for “best Sunday roasts” and came across this place; had a look at the menu and decided we’d take a trip! On arrival, we were shown to our table - no ambience at all. Dining area was freezing cold, whilst the downstairs bar area was nice and warm. Asked for a hot drink to be told that they don’t do hot drinks (what sort of bar restaurant doesn’t do hot drinks). Was handed a menu but no roast on it so had to ask when the server returned. Was told that they do do roasts but only beef and veg option. I asked if they had chicken as per the menu on their website to be told “no” - nothing more, no apology. As someone who doesn’t eat beef, this was disappointing. They’d not run out for the day as we were clearly the first to arrive for Sunday lunch. Would have left at this point had we not travelled to this place. The food however was tasty; really enjoyed what I ate, as did my friend.

Spent a lovely couple of hours in this fabulous pub before attending a gig on Oxford Street. Great beer and wine, excellent value for money pub grub and the nicest landlady you could meet. Thanks for looking after us so well Maddie. Cliff and Sue.
