Meals aren’t about trends, shock value, or opulence.
Meals are about moments, memories and those who surround you at your table.
We believe in the complexity of simplicity, and the power of pure flavors. Our histories, vast and varied, deserve to be memorialized and romanticized by dishes that at once remind us of home and transport us to somewhere new.

We don’t make food for everyone else, we make food for you.

Why they're an Icon

Executive chef: Nina Compton

From the OpenTable editors: At Compère Lapin, James Beard Award-winning chef Nina Compton dazzles with showstopping dishes that marry her Caribbean heritage and French fine dining pedigree. Dig into favorites like goat curry and broiled shrimp with Calabrian chili butter in a stylish space dressed with exposed brick and warm woods. Don’t miss award-winning cocktails like The Copper Hopper—a tropical, tequila-forward drink served in a copper bunny mug, a nod to the restaurant’s namesake folklore rabbit.

Great food. Get the goat. Try the drinks. And don’t stop after mains. Get dessert.

Restaurants across Louisiana have become hit-or-miss. Maybe it's because of COVID. Maybe it's something else. But it's rare that I have an exceptional meal in New Orleans, or anywhere else in the state for that matter. But this restaurant was outstanding--every plate, every bite, every flavor. A symphony of delight. The staff was excellent; the service welcoming and attentive. There are so many things on that menu I am now determined to try, like blackened pig ears and curry goat. What an exceptional restaurant! To think I've been walking past it for years and missing out on this incredible culinary experience. You should go. Their fried chicken is amazing, and those were some of the best hushpuppies I have ever tasted. So delicious. Five stars.

Amazingly inventive and creative food. While the cocktail list was too precious, the bartender made a great cocktail requested. Wines by the glass were great choices. Terrific service. Delicious food and a great vibe. Coming back here is a must.

have to admit we were a lil hungover and considered skipping our last-day brunch reservation, and boy am I glad we didn’t. this meal was by far the highlight of our trip. excellent service—attentive, helpful and friendly—and even better food. the presentations were so beautiful and every dish we had (tater tots, tuna tartare bagel, shrimp and grits, and gnocchi) was as good as the next. will be dreaming about this brunch until we meet again (and coming for lunch and dinner next time). thank you so much, brother rabbit 🐇.

Tatertots were the best tatertots we have ever had! Excellent in every way -- salty, crunchy, soft. Never thought we'd like the combo with caviar, but we'd eat it again. Shrimp were cooked perfectly and so were the grits. Creamy. Gnocchi was flavorful and rich. Creme brulee was very good. Not too sweet and the berries added an excellent freshness to it. Definitely a taste of new orleans.
