Went for Sunday brunch, both had burgers and they were fantastic. Would definitely go again.

Went to counting house for brunch. Upon arrival we waited for about 10 minutes for the hostess to appear and she found our reservation but we were told a table may not be available due to the fact that they were down a server. Our table turned out to be 2 feet from the couple next to us and was a bit uncomfortable. The food was mediocre at best—the biscuit and egg were over cooked and the crème brûlée French toast had no distinct flavor. The tater tots were good. Overall it was a disappointing experience as we really looked forward to trying counting house— can’t imagine a return visit—at least not for brunch.

Went for lunch. Started with the ButterBean Hummus, which was great and would not hesitate to order again. Had the Bangers & Mash for my main dish and frankly was pretty disappointed. My partner had the chicken sandwich was large and very good. Complimented it with a side salad which also was great.

Although the service at the 21C Hotel was spotty, our worries about the food at the Counting House were unfounded. While certainly not the best meals we've ever had, they were above expectations and a good value. I'd say, if you are in the area for a show at DPAC or Carolina Theater, give them a shot. While the menu reads a little fuzzy , the explanations and descriptions offered by the waiter clarified things quickly. Some items really don't have a proper description. IMHO, they should redo their menus to better reflect their offerings. We had breakfast there the next morning and that was pretty good too !

Plan some extra time to explore the art gallery adjacent to the restaurant.

We always love coming here before attending a musical at DPAC. The food is delicious and everyone is friendly. We came at a busy time yesterday for the staff, but everyone stepped up to help. We will definitely be going back.

The portions are actually too large. Perhaps smaller portions at a lower price would be a good option. The food was excellent. The restaurant was a little chilly, but it was a cold night.

Decor was bizarre with no identity. Ordered a frozen margarita and received on the rocks; server stated she didn't hear "frozen" and they don't serve frozen drinks. The margarita was very overpriced at $22 for a small champagne-size glass. The seared scallops dinner consisted of only 3 scallops when we usually receive 6-8 at other restaurants; they were quite tasty, however. The burger, while very good, was equally messy so difficult to eat. Fries were good. Prime rib was good although I was disappointed at the lack of true vegetables available for any meal - the prime rib came with [potato] fingerlings and mushrooms. The Japanese Milk Bread, which I always look forward to at other restaurants, did not have that special flavor but was more like a nice dinner roll. Overall, I would not recommend.

We took our three children for a special night, and it turned out to be just as wonderful as we hoped - the food, the art, and the service.
