We had dinner at this beautiful historic manor turned hotel and restaurant, and the setting truly stole the show. The building is rich with character and history, and the views are absolutely breathtaking — a perfect spot for a special evening. The restaurant itself has a lovely atmosphere, though our experience was slightly mixed. The food took a bit longer to arrive than expected, and while the presentation and portions were decent, we had higher expectations given the elegance of the venue. One thing that did surprise us was the dress code — despite being described as “smart casual,” many guests were dressed in shorts and crocs, which took away from the refined ambiance we were hoping for. Still, we enjoyed our evening overall and would likely return, but next time with more relaxed expectations. The location alone is worth a visit!

It was ok, but not the best. The tea wasn't hot and tasted very perfumey. There was only 3 finger sandwiches as a savoury. The scone was lovely. £7.60 service charge on top of the cost makes it quite pricey for an average afternoon tea.

The food was absolutely disgusting! We had a roast beef dinner which was barely warm, the sprouts (which were marble-size) were burnt, the beef was gristly and very chewy, the roast potatoes were rock hard and the carrots and parsnips were diced and looked like they were frozen vegetables. Overall this meal appeared to have been reheated from a previous day. We did complain and the waitress said we would not be charged for the meal or our drinks and invited us to go back another day but we will not be returning. We did have a Sunday lunch there about two years ago and it was amazing but definitely not on this occasion, which spoilt our 51 Wedding Anniversary.

Our first evening we were served three different sized glasses of champagne, and when I contested the size difference, I was told the previous waitress had served us too much and had been told off, despite us being served by three different people. The pizza was cold and I had to send it back. The roast dinner was also cold so we had to send that back too. The coffee was cold, the room wasn’t cleaned each day, and when it was they didn’t replace the tea and coffee making facilities. We had dirty cups, and had to ask them to be changed at breakfast. We waited ages to be served, and then when the food came out it was cold. Overall, we were very disappointed and ending up eating out at other restaurants so we didn’t have to eat there.

The historic environment of the dining room at Stonehouse Court is very much a part of the ambiance (ancient oak, and stone fireplaces) . A quiet meal in a centuries-old manor house with a six acre lawn was delightful. The meal, the service, and the ambiance are exceptional.

The food was amazing. The service was great and Stonehouse Court is such a beautiful venue. The kitchen was very accommodating as we asked for a slight change to the afternoon tea. We will definitely be coming again.
