   It's a small menu but with interesting appetizers. Our food was quite good, except for the creme brulee-which was too runny. The salmon was cooked perfectly.Service was hit and miss. We had trouble finding our server to order pre-dinner drinks and then dessert. Our guest had to find another server to get a glass of wine. The room is very plain-no tablecloths. For this kind of price, I expected a nicer environment. You walk through the bar, which looks like a bus station cafeteria. The view from the dining area out to the lake is nice when it is daylight. I imagine in warmer weather the terrace would be very nice. But the noise from the tv and the loud patrons who thought they were in that bus station, ruined our evening. This restaurant is highly rated. I would not return until spring, to sit outside. Don't expect a fine dining experience indoors. Too bad.

   Virtually no one around Gainesville knows where Eleo Hotel or Covey Kitchen is located nor have they even heard of them. That is sad because the service in the restaurant is very good and the food is delicious. The only problem for me is that the ambience is not fine restaurant but Florida hotel restaurant. It was my guest’s birthday which was posted on my reservation but the server was not made aware. Immediately upon my telling her she comped one of the desserts. I certainly hope to return to Covey Kitchen!

   We went on New Year’s Eve and everything was just amazing. The service was fantastic. The cocktails are delicious and creative. The food was excellent. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

   The food is as good or better than any fine dining restaurant. I had the salmon and my husband had the roasted chicken. The chicken was moister than have ever had anywhere. The salmon was flavorful and will cook it at a temperature you prefer. Definitely will return.

   Covey’s cocktails are delicious and always innovative. Our Tortellini Michelle was really great, cooked to perfection with tortellini al dente, steak tender, and gravy sooo good and not over-salted which happens too often in restaurants. The Rye-Spice cocktail was perfect—a touch of sweet but not too much. The All Things Vice cocktail with Titos, chai, pumpkin puree, espresso, Baileys with a dash of nutmeg on top was a heavenly after dinner drink to sip slowly. The key lime pie, a complete contrast to the All Things Vice, was outstanding and held its own. The lime was flavor of course stood out…you could see the zest in it—but it was not overly tart nor was it sickening sweet. It was perfection. Our server was friendly, knew the menu, and never missed a beat. She mentioned having just graduated (I would assume from college) and there she was, cheerfully working on Christmas, providing exceptional service.

    Covey Kitchen had been on my “want to go” list for a while based on menu and previous reviews. Unfortunately, there was a new menu (changed a few weeks ago per server). The ambiance was semi sports bar, as there is a large bar and a tv shining into dining room. My husband and I came for dinner, we each had a drink and salad or soup, then left because entree menu was unappealing.
