   This is my second time to Cru since Easter Sunday where the 3 course brunch my dining partner and I had was not a good experience. Due to an email from the General Manager apologizing/explaining the issues they had Easter Sunday after my OpenTable review expressing my disappointment, and from the check adjustment from the server on Easter Sunday, I decided to go back to Cru and see if the food and service for the 3 course Mother's Day was back to "normal". I can gladly say the food was much improved to the point that I would go back to Cru to give it a try for a normal Sunday brunch and not a three course prix fixe menu. I started off getting one of their mimosas and the price was reasonable and it was tasty. Again, I had to inquire about the bread basket that comes with two half slices of bread that I would think is made in house. This is something that should always come automatic as opposed to a diner having to ask for it. The appetizer I chose was a lump crab salad that was presented in a way not expected. As opposed to have a lump or scoop of crab salad atop of the greens (some type of leaf lettuce, cooked asparagus and green beans) the crab was mixed in. It was tasty when I took a bite of the appetizer and enjoyed the dressing, but I think the way an appetizer is presented speaks volumes to the diner before being eaten. The presentation might have been better if the crab was lumped on top of the green and not mixed in and had a cherry tomato or two sliced in half and mixed in to provide a color and taste not "green". I had the Bass main course and this fish course was very good. It had a nice crusted top to it and it was very tasty. The dish was served with cooked corn and capers. The dessert was a pound cake with berries and cream but I took this home as I had eaten enough and decided to eat it later. All in all, this Mother's Day 3 course meal was worth the effort of going back and giving Cru another try.

   Cru, plain and simply, was not prepared for the volume of patrons for Easter brunch. Moreover, the major time delays from the kitchen (+1hr 45 mins between the 3 courses) of food plating and table delivery caused meals to be served cold. My steak &eggs was cold (steak was cold / eggs were warm). To be clear, the management was very accommodating to it’s guests and offered and credited our meal. (We did not ask) Our server was excellent (thank you)- only the kitchen service suffered. It should also be noted that we arrived early (20 mins) for our reservation, and Cru staff were kind enough to call us when our table was ready. Thank you. We have dined at Cru several times, and yes, we will be back - but not on a holiday.

   Went for Easter prix fixe and waited 1.5 hours for some mediocre food. Was still $70 a person :/

   Went to Cru in West Village for Easter Brunch and was a bit disappointed as I was looking for a great Easter Brunch. It was for a three course meal for $49. We arrived about 10:55 am for our 11 am reservation. Appetizer that I had was assorted sliced beats with green beans and goat cheese. It seemed to me that the beets were raw as were the green beans. The goat cheese made the dish edible but the dish needed more of it. My dining partner had the egg salad on bread with salmon. He liked it but there was too much bread. The waiter and manager ( I think) stopped by about 3 times to let us know that our lamb entree would be out soon. We got the lambchop entrees about 12 noon, about a good 30 minutes after we finished our appetizers. I asked for my chops medium rare and two of the thin chops came out medium to medium well and the one chop that appeared to be a double one started out medium rare but then went to rare/raw once the outside was eaten. The chops were served with mashed potatoes which were good and, lo & behold, green beans again - surprise, surprise.! Neither time did it seem the green beans were cooked with any spices/garlic or anything and were served raw. And the lamp chops didn't appear to have any seasoning at all to add to the flavor. The desserts came out 30 seconds after our entre plates were taken away which is understandable so that they could turn the table over for the next couple. The waiter was very sympathetic to our dining experience and removed one entree and comped the two mimosas I had so it was nice to know that he recognized our dining experience was not the pleasant experience we had wanted to have. Because of the waiter's gesture I would go back to Cru and give them another try but hope the chef is a bit more attentive to the menu planning so guests don't have to figure out which items are served on the same appetizer and main.

   The server we had for the table was simply a cut above the rest. Attentive, familiar with the menu and wines and overall did an outstanding job. And to know that this establishment is also dog friendly is great to know. The aesthetics of Cru was visually appealing also, with a a large selection of wines and a good menu that had the option of small or sharing plates. The food portions were just right and not overly excessive in their quantity. I will definitely be coming back and highly recommend this place for a good brunch, day drinking spot.

   Unfortunately CRU has eliminated some of their best dishes including; ahi tuna tartare , Caesar salad, and scallop entree. The new shrimp entree listed jumbo shrimp, but instead we received a dish with small shrimp. It was disappointing. We hope that they bring back some of their popular dishes.
