Death Row Dive & Diner is located in the cavernous basement of no.32 Hope Street, in Liverpool's historic Georgian quarter and across the road from the Philharmonic Hall. Death row dive & diner comprises a large cocktail bar and substantial restaurant specialising in American folk cuisine, primarily from the Southern states. The atmosphere is lively and the backdrop is a dramatic industrial interior designed by Rob Gutmann. DRD is the place to go for the best steaks, burger & ribs, in town. Take in a 'hard' shake or cocktail in the dive bar before dining to the background sounds of vintage rockabilly and hard country.

Our mains were great, loved the food. When it came to ordered desserts a few of us were more than happy to try some of the gorgeous sounding sweets on the menu, so we placed an order. However, after half an hour we still hasn't received out desserts. We alerted a staff member who assured us they were on the way, 20 minutes later still no desserts, so we cancelled them & got the bill. It was a huge shame, because up until that point the experience was great & the burgers were delicious.

I understand the atmosphere trying to be achieved by the restaurant, as death row, but it was just dull and boring. My husband said there was no lights in the bathroom either which was a little off putting. The food however, was delicious! We enjoyed rack of ribs and chicken with waffles. They were all cooked beautifully and melted in the mouth. The mac cheese bites were also flavoursome and moist, not an easy task when deep frying. I think it is aimed for a more alternative, student clientele unfortunately, so it's unlikely we will visit again. But, worth at least one trip for the excellent food.

Found this place on Open Table when looking for somewhere to eat on a Sunday lunchtime. The menu appealed as being very eccentric but with an honest approach (love the wine list). It was almost empty when we arrived so expected speedy service - which we didn't get! The shortfall appeared to be in the kitchen, not the waiting staff. That said, the starters were good (deep fried cauliflower in buffalo sauce was great), main courses were just OK. The chef must have shares in a deep fryer manufacturer as it was deep fried everything (but done rather well). This place would be great for a group night out as it's fun. Don't go if you are a foody (or on a health diet!)

Staff left all our plates and glasses on our table until the end of the night before collecting them from our table. Service was slow and poor. Food was no where near the standard or similar places in town! Would not recommend to a friend

We came here about 6 months ago after just spotting it online. We returned again for my boyfriends birthday and enjoyed it just as much as the first time. We went with a group of 8 people some of which were later on arrival, but the staff were very accommodating to this. The food is very reasonably priced, we ended up all sharing starters and splitting the price. The boys in the group all had burgers and were very impressed. It was a shame that they have taken the pastrami cheese fries off the menu as these were amazing! And I have to say none of the others quite matched up. The cocktails are where you'll end up spending money, they are about £7.50 each but they are unique and all very nice so worth it in our opinion. We will most definitely be returning again 👍

We had the burning love burger and chicken bastad bucket. Both were great, in particular the chicken which included some of the best salt and pepper seasoning I've ever had. The fries in chicken gravy were excellent too, as were the cocktails!

We've been looking for a good excuse to eat here having built it up in our minds to be great and we were not disappointed in the slightest. I took the boyfriend out for his birthday surprise and he loved it too. Fried Mac and cheese and lasagne bites were fantastic and the burger and veggie platter were equally as great. Massive amount of food and will definitely eat there again, the value for money and drink was very good. Highly recommend Miss Kitty's too, love that these are still a bit of a secret in my city and you don't have to fight through the stag and hen parties to get in!
