Izakaya Den is Denver’s popular Japanese gastropub, modeled after the lively after hours establishments found throughout Japan. The restaurant is located on South Pearl Street and is the second restaurant of the Kizaki brothers, founders and owners of Sushi Den.



The menu is arranged in a tapas style, serving traditional Japanese small plates along with dishes infused with international flavors and textures. The more traditional Japanese offerings include sashimi and nigiri, sourced from daily fish shipments from around the globe, along with dumplings and noodle dishes. The global cuisine experiments with a bevy of different flavors including unique items such as Grilled Panzanella Salad (jumbo lump crab, toasted focaccia, local goat cheese, pistachios, plum wine vinaigrette), Kobe Beef Sliders (seared foie gras, pomme frittes). A gluten-free menu is also available along with a popular weekday happy hour from 5 to 6:30 pm.

                                                    The staff is always very friendly and so kind. The sushi is always top notch and melts in your mouth. The only sad part is that most everything was sold out by Saturday night. Four to five of the items that we were trying to order were already sold out by the time with got to dinner at 7:00pm. I've had sushi in Seattle, Baltimore, San Fransico, and Seoul, South Korea, and Izakaya Den is easily my top choice in sushi.

                                                    Everything was perfect. Came for birthday dinner with girlfriends. Our waitress had some great recommendations to add to our sushi order. Food came out fast and tasted amazing. Drinks were yum. Didn’t feel too noisy or close to the other tables around us. Love this place!

                                                    Haven’t been to sushi den in years as last experience was not a good one. We were very disappointed. Sushi was average, some tasty. I cannot guess what has gone on with these combined restaurants but nothing special or unique. Get back to basics and making great food. This is not best in Denver by a long shot. I’ll not ever go back.

                                                    Went New Year’s Eve very busy night still got good service. Berry our server was super friendly. Got a bunch of sushi rolls all good tasted fresh. Korean ribs were tasty but got mostly veggies not much meat. Drinks were good. Great ambiance.

                                                    My husband and I had a wonderful evening at Izakaya Den. Our server, Eugene, gave us stellar recommendations and service. We enjoyed several nigiri recommendations from the Daily Catch menu, which were so delicious. The black cod, as usual, is melt in your mouth delicious. The sushi rolls were fresh and amazing. I highly recommend both Sushi Den and its sister restaurant, Izakaya Den. It’s the best and freshest sushi in the Denver area.

                                                    Waiter lost our order. Took forever to get food. Received an apology. But a bit ridiculous. We have had this waiter times now. Same issue both times.
