My husband made a reservation here for me for my birthday (he called ahead as he was traveling for work). I arrived on time and chose to take a seat at the bar. Once sitting down the bartender handed me a menu and that was it. There was one other person at the bar and maybe 3 other tables- the restaurant was not busy by any means. After waiting 17 minutes I finally got up and left- hadn’t been given water, hadn’t been asked for a drink, nothing. Worse, one of the bartenders was grabbing water right in front of me for other tables (who came in after me) and didn’t even bother to look at me. I ended up going to Chartreuse for my dinner and it was great. I’ve worked in the service industry for years, I’ve bartended, I try to be very understanding when I can but there was no reason for the complete lack of acknowledgment. This was my first time coming here and unfortunately the last.

We were so impressed by the high quality Sushi @ Detroit Sushi! I am Japanese and our family has lived in Japan with me for a few years, and we were all very happy with the delicious Omakase meals that we received from Chef Shinya! Very friendly and a great environment for any occasion! I have two small boys and they weren't quiet but the restaurant staffs were so sweet to my boys. We will go back there very soon, and now we don't need to drive up to Novi to get Sushi.

Came in tonight for Valentine’s Day when we first walked in, I asked a lady who obviously worked there where Detroit Sushi was and her response was “I’m not familiar”. We walked in the front door and on the reflection, there was a sign that read “Detroit Sushi.” Anyways, we head inside and Megan was the only server she was also the last I spoke with outside the establishment. Here’s the kicker, She did not acknowledge us for the 20 minutes we sat there. When we stood up for put our coats on, she finally tried to come to the table but it was too late. When we told her we were leaving, she “apologized” in the most condescending tone. We are both former servers and apparently this is the only restaurant where this is acceptable. I’m free Thursday after 1pm if you’d like for me to train her on how to properly service a not busy restaurant.

Had a reservation and was not sat until 45 minutes after. Multiple groups of people came in and were told the same that there was a wait. Those groups went up to the hostess table to complain and were sat before my group. After finally being sat it took another 45 minutes for our order to be taken. After that food and drink came at a decent time but an automatic 20% gratuity was put on my bill.

A Complete Disaster – Valentine’s Day Ruined If I could give zero stars, I would. We made Valentine’s Day reservations at Hammer and Nail, expecting a nice evening. Instead, we got a chaotic, disorganized mess. We arrived on time—actually a few minutes early—and were seated right away. That was the last thing that went smoothly. We waited over 15 minutes before a server even acknowledged us, despite watching other tables get immediate attention. We ordered cocktails and sushi at the same time, hoping to speed things along. Big mistake. After 30 minutes, still no drinks. We flagged our server, who gave us a weak excuse about them being busy. Clearly, she never put the order in. Meanwhile, we watched other tables (who arrived later) get their drinks right away. Another 20 minutes passed, and still no sushi. We sat there for nearly an hour with nothing but frustration. The restaurant was an absolute mess—servers running around, no one in charge, and worst of all, sushi sitting on the counter for ages before being served. Room-temperature sushi? No thanks. After an hour of waiting, we gave up. We left money for our (ridiculously delayed) drinks and walked out hungry and disappointed. So much for a romantic Valentine’s dinner. This place is a disaster. It’s not a large restaurant, and there were plenty of staff, so there’s no excuse for such a disaster in service. Clearly, management is clueless. We won’t be back.

We waited for over 20 minutes and never got waited on. We left. Cool place though. The bartender was the only server so I can’t fault her for not being able to take care of everyone.

We came here for drinks and dinner before a DSO concert. It was freezing in the restaurant. Drinks were good. We ordered a sushi roll and the sashimi boat. Sashimi was fantastic, sushi not; rice was dry and roll didn’t taste fresh. Service was slow and unattentive. 1.5 hours. We probably wont return.
