Welcome to the Cliff Hotel in Gorleston-On Sea, a hotel and restaurant with unrivalled views of the Norfolk and Suffolk coast.

The Cliff Hotel dates back to 1890 when the original hotel was opened, in 1915 the building was ravaged by fire and demolished. The old staff accommodation was renovated into a new hotel, the building that we currently occupy today.

We have a vast selection of dining options from our relaxed art-deco inspired MUSE restaurant, our vibrant bar dining area or one of the biggest outside dining terraces in Norfolk.

Wherever you decide to eat our menus will give you a huge variety of choice from fresh fish to steaks and grills. Alternatively we have lighter snacks and a range of classic dishes to delight all tastes.

Why not join us for a traditional Sunday roast or a quintessentially British afternoon tea?

Our food is prepared in our kitchens to ensure the best quality and taste reaches your table.

We look forward to welcoming you.

Went to the Cliff for a birthday lunch. I'd booked a table outside but as it was quite breezy we sat inside instead. One member of staff suggested a particular table for us to sit at, we had good views out to the sea. We were served quickly and the food/drinks arrived soon after. The fish and chips were very large and were delicious according to those in my party that had them. I ordered the mushroom tagliatelle and it was lovely.

Our favourite place to eat, drink and chat. Problem with food: I had fish pie. Delicious except the bacon in it was hard as rock so left most of the bacon. My husband had fish and chips; great fish but the chips were tired, very brown like they had been cooked a few times, and very soft. We were hoping for crisp chips not soft unappetising ones! Please do them fresh in a deep fryer! Kieran our waiter was great - tried to help with our Cliff hotel app but it didn’t work for him either!

Have visited many times and has always been great. Not so today. Chips were not pleasant, mushy peas were dry and no flavour. Brisket of which there was one thin slice… was about about 40% solid fat and inedible. Service was good ambience good food not so… I would have complained but the elderly gentleman with me would have become upset so I let it go. I will think twice before visiting again. Such a shame.

Several options not available from the menu. We asked for sausages to replace the other meat options in the child’s roast and they duly obliged. When it came the plate was heaving with vegetables and quite 2 large sausages plus a sizeable Yorkshire pudding and then there was a separate cauliflower cheese - all for a 3 year old! Overall it was twice the portion of my son’s chicken burger (pretty tasteless) and chips.. The mushy peas accompanying the fish and chips were the texture of Polyfilla, I.e. totally dry. Not an experience which would encourage us to return.
