Welcome to the Cliff Hotel in Gorleston-On Sea, a hotel and restaurant with unrivalled views of the Norfolk and Suffolk coast.

The Cliff Hotel dates back to 1890 when the original hotel was opened, in 1915 the building was ravaged by fire and demolished. The old staff accommodation was renovated into a new hotel, the building that we currently occupy today.

We have a vast selection of dining options from our relaxed art-deco inspired MUSE restaurant, our vibrant bar dining area or one of the biggest outside dining terraces in Norfolk.

Wherever you decide to eat our menus will give you a huge variety of choice from fresh fish to steaks and grills. Alternatively we have lighter snacks and a range of classic dishes to delight all tastes.

Why not join us for a traditional Sunday roast or a quintessentially British afternoon tea?

Our food is prepared in our kitchens to ensure the best quality and taste reaches your table.

We look forward to welcoming you.

Several options not available from the menu. We asked for sausages to replace the other meat options in the child’s roast and they duly obliged. When it came the plate was heaving with vegetables and quite 2 large sausages plus a sizeable Yorkshire pudding and then there was a separate cauliflower cheese - all for a 3 year old! Overall it was twice the portion of my son’s chicken burger (pretty tasteless) and chips.. The mushy peas accompanying the fish and chips were the texture of Polyfilla, I.e. totally dry. Not an experience which would encourage us to return.

Had the halloumi fries to start, which were fantastic, followed by the pork roast, the pork was so tender with a lovely stuffing & all the trimmings, is one of best roasts I've ever had, for dessert we had the bread & butter pudding & ice cream, which was delicious, will be going back there very soon

We were neglected on arrival, sat at our table for 25 minutes waiting for a drink. My food was not well presented and my wife’s was so small for the price. At one o’clock, three items were unavailable on the menu. The head waiter was reprimanding young staff in front of customers, very unprofessional.

Our server was lovely. The food took a little bit longer than we would have liked but they were very busy and obviously trying their best. Only niggle was that one particular server (Kieron) kept leaving the door to the terrace open so an icy cold blast would come over the table every now and again, meaning that my daughter ate her dinner whilst wearing her coat. We got up a couple of times up to close the door ourselves, but it kept happening.

On arrival at 2:30 on a Sunday, we were told that three choices(skate, risotto and fillet steak) on main menu were not available and the cauliflower cheese accompaniment to roast had all gone. Whilst these things did not spoil our lunch it wasn’t really a great start was it? Also with the brisket being off menu, this removed more choices. Three of us had roast, and one had a smoked combo. All very tasty, and enjoyed by all. Sadly our second round of drinks sat on a tray at the bar and we had to chase these to be brought to our table. Desserts were slightly confusing too, on the menu there was a caramelised choc and hazelnut cheesecake, there was no mention of white chocolate on menu, so when some white cheesecake arrived we questioned this, after some time a young lady arrived and said that she was sorry that it was misleading on the menu, but it should have read caramelised white chocolate. This was clearly nonsense and I’m guessing the choc and hazelnut cheesecake had gone too and we had a redressing of the white choc cheesecake special. Which was ok, but nothing special. We have eaten here before and will probably eat here again, but please try to offer a full choice and be honest with us in the future. The staff were attentive, polite and hardworking, and a joy to be looked after by. Thank you.

Very enjoyable Sunday lunch at the Cliff Hotel. Impressive roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding with all the trimmings, sadly we didn't have time for dessert. Lovely attentive staff and very nice area to eat in

Started off fanatic. Great, friendly service and the food came out very quickly. Absolutely delicious. Only downside was when the plates were cleared, we were not asked if we wanted anymore drinks or a desert menu. We were then left a good half an hour with no drinks or anyone coming to see if we wanted a desert. My wife ended up having to ask for a menu at the bar.
