Welcome to dLeña, a Wood-Fire Mexican Cocina & Mezcaleria by Chef Richard Sandoval.

dLeña is derived from the Spanish word “leña,” meaning firewood. The restaurant is centered around it’s wood-burning grill - a nod to the rustic open-fire cooking techniques of Mexico’s past.

The menu transports diners to Mexico through a multi-sensory experience in every bite of the signature smoked entrées, fresh ceviches, and unique sharing plates. The expansive bar features hand-crafted margaritas, Latin cocktails, cervezas and vino.

CHEF'S TABLE EXPERIENCE:

    The time was well spent with friends and conversation. The brunch felt a little rushed which made the food feel overwhelming but that was not to major. The environment was welcoming and service was fast and friendly

    Great brunch experience. The plates are small enough to let you try a variety of items from the bottomless menu but are big enough to enjoy every bite. Standout dishes for us were the chilaquiles, the street corn, the mahi mahi ceviche and the churros at the end!

    First time there and great experience and service. The bottomless brunch for food & drink is a great value and well worth it. The food and drinks arrived promptly. Highly recommend trying the brunch. I will be back to try their dinner at a later date.

    The ambiance is luxurious, relaxed, modern and beachy. Even when it is busy, the service is quick. The food is fresh and balanced. Flavorful and bold without being too filling. The bottomless cocktails are very light on alochol so you are able to drink several without issue. The negatives: the glasses are rimmed with salt or tajin so I didn't notice until I cut my lip that the rim of the glass was chipped. Once I pointed it to our server he promptly indicated he would throw it away and brinf me a replacement drink. This leads me to my second negative, that replacement drink didn't come. We were supposed to have one last round while we paid. Though they were accomodating in giving us more time beyond the two hour brunch, as soon as we signed the dotted line they indicated we would not be receiving it. My advice, definitely get a bottomless food brunch but skip the bottomless alcohol. If you'd like to drink, pair it with a couple regular cocktails instead. As fun as it is to sip from a rimmed glass, be careful because they are not be checked for chips.

    I have been twice now and the food and service are exceptional. The hibiscus you receive when you sit at the table is exceptional. I highly recommend the Wagyu Steak A La Pierda.

    The food was quite good but not mind blowing. The service, however, was wanting. Several issues. First our waiter was quite nice and the initial interaction signaled that this would be a Michelin-worthy evening. Sadly, no. First, it took rather a long time for the waiter to return after first contact to actually take our order. Ok, place was busy. But then an app was delivered to our table we did not order and we struggled to convince the runner of the error. She initially insisted WE were in error and had definitely ordered it. Thereafter, our mains arrived but without the sides we had ordered. When we brought this to the attention of our waiter his response was simply “so do you want it taken off your order or should they fire it now”. Of course our mains had long since arrived and were already cooling. In general waters went infilled and our table felt ignored. For a $200 ticket for two, the food definitely exceeded the service. And for the huge collection of waiters, servers, runners and other staff they had in evidence this low level of service was surprising. Place gets great reviews and was definitely busy. But truthfully, there are better experiences to be had at this price point in DC.

    This place is absolutely phenomenal! The experience kicked off with amazing appetizers paired with incredible drinks. The drink selection was massive, offering something for every taste. The bone marrow appetizer was a standout—rich, flavorful, and perfectly executed. I also loved the twist on the selection of tequila; it was creative and refreshing. To top it all off, the dessert was both delicious and a visual masterpiece. Every dish felt like a work of art, from the flavors to the presentation. A must-visit for food lovers
