Located in the heart of Janesville’s downtown, drafthouse, is a fun, high-energy downtown gastropub that celebrates the richness of American culture through its appetizing and progressive bar fare. Both the restaurant philosophy and menu offerings draw heavily from two barroom staples: beer and spirits.

drafthouse is the downtown place-to-be for locals and tourists alike. Set in a warm modernist design, the restaurant and bar offer 24 draft beers, a wine list of over 120 offerings, the counties largest whiskey selection and an extensive spirt and cocktail list. The abundant windows show off the interior space to the downtowns successful relaunch. And, rooted in the idea that we are indeed a community, four large communal tables foster a sense of gathering where deliciously innovative food, conversation and drink can be shared amongst friends and neighbors.

    Beverages were great! Gourmet old fashions. We both chose the Chilean Sea Bass. Cooked to perfection and paired with brocoli and a risotto. An ex Ellen meal! The 3 sheeps Pils was a great beer that went well with the mussels we had for a appetizer.

    Calamari was overcooked and way too breaded, the beef tenderloin on the bruschetta was very tough, the lobster tail was overcooked.

    We have been here multiple times and have not had many problems in the past. But this visit was a little disappointing. The service was very slow. My fiancé’s BLT was missing his bacon and my rice was extremely undercooked.

    We were there around 6 p.m. on a Sunday night. It was pretty quiet so no crowds or noise to deal with. The staff were pleasant and attentive. The food was all good but I had the salmon blt and there were 3 tiny pieces of salmon on a large bun so it was hard to tell it was a fish sandwich. I had this same experience at a Cooper's Hawk recently ... shrinkflation. Other than the fish portion, we had no complaints.
