   I had made a reservation for dinner for six people to celebrate my daughter’s 16th birthday. We’ve dined here many times and it’s usually a really nice experience. Unfortunately this time we struggled to find parking, then our table wasn’t ready, despite the restaurant not being that busy. Not once did anyone ask about the birthday, even though I had added it to the reservation. We sat at our table, which was barely big enough for 6, for at least five minutes before our server came over. We had to ask for water, which is normally on the table. It was early in the evening but they were out of several appetizers we wanted to order for the table. When we did get our food, my daughter’s pasta was dry, and not that warm. It had obviously been sitting under heat. My husband’s order was incorrect, and when they brought the missing chicken it was dry and sad looking. We didn’t even bother with dessert despite it being a birthday celebration. We’ll be choosing a different Earls location next time, sad because this location is so close to our home.

   3 times is either a charm or a curse. This time was the death. The first two experiences were so good but this time service and especially the food was underwhelming. So many other restaurants in the area, we will not go back.

   Feeling like this Earl’s across from SAIT is going downhill. Last two times all of our orders were completely wrong. First time received an apology and complimentary dessert. Second time, server didn’t care it was wrong. No apology, no further check in, no coffee refill (not a $5 cup of coffee worthy). Had to hunt her down to get the bill and those weren’t correct either! Lunch time on a Saturday and there were maybe 6 other tables including patio. Will not be back.

   Paying 9.25 for well vodka soda when it was 5.25 during happy hour is crazy.

   I usually always like Earls. Food is dependably good. This visit was different. First, my white wine was brought to me in a champagne flute because they'd temporarily run out of wine glasses??? Second, the Bigger, Better Burger arrived cut in half... which ruins the burger-eating vibe, and I'm convinced they do it to cover up the fact that the burger is no longer Bigger. The bun is smaller, the patty is thinner, and while it still tastes good, I'd rather they increase the price, bring the size back to Bigger, and STOP cutting the burgers in half. Finally, service wasn't as good as it usually is. Our server was largely absent for the second half of our meal, which meant my husband didn't order another $22 glass of wine. I hope the service was a one-off, and that they do better with their menu cover ups.

   We have been coming here for years. We usually order the same thing. We swayed from the usual, and it was pretty good aside from the Wagyu oishii which was ok. Sangrias were great too. Our server was pretty amazing though and made the night extra special with her charming demeanor and happy personality. She was exceptional and her service made the night. I can’t recall her name but she was petite and had long curly dark hair.
