While pizza and pasta are just the tip of the Italian iceberg, there is a reason these two culinary staples are the most beloved exports from Italy. Enjoy our seasonal selection just steps away from where our expert pasta chefs and dough-slinging pizzaioli (pizza makers) create dishes before your eyes.

They are still getting the kinks ironed out, but overall it was a good experience. I'll be back

While the food was delicious at this recently opened (to much fanfare) location in NJ, the experience and service was quite lacking. Even with a reservation you are made to check in at the same hostess stand inside the marketplace that others with who have no reservation/ are waiting making the experience chaotic. For some reason, you are asked not to use the entrance from the street which would be a much better experience, avoiding the crowds. The service was terrible...super slow, we had to repeatedly ask for an item we ordered first, juggling of dishes because they had not been cleared from previous course. The food, however, was great. Perhaps the experience and service will improve over time, but until then, not sure it's worth making a separate visit to Eataly if you are not already at the mall.

Unfortunately we never got to eat. The food didn’t arrive. Couldn’t get a server or manager to help. We were forced to leave as were the people next to us. The service “kinks” are far from worked out.

I recently visited Eataly Nj expecting a high-end dining experience, but I left feeling disappointed by the service and staff training. For a place that boasts an upscale reputation, I anticipated knowledgeable staff and seamless service, but the reality fell short. Sad - because I have been raving about it to family and friends - embarrassing. The waitstaff appeared unfamiliar with the menu, struggling to answer basic questions about ingredients and dish recommendations. In a fine-dining establishment, I expect servers to have a thorough understanding of the menu, including preparation details and flavor profiles. Instead, there was visible confusion, and the staff had to repeatedly check with the kitchen for answers. Additionally, the service felt disorganized, indicating poor training and management oversight. Incorrect dishes were brought to the table, and it took far too long to correct these mistakes. While the ambiance and food were up to par, the lack of well-trained staff undermines the entire experience. High-end dining is about more than just the food—it’s about impeccable service. Unfortunately, eataly needs to seriously address their training and management if they want to justify their reputation and pricing.

On Sat Nov 23rd my wife and I went to the Eataly in the Short Hills Mall to celebrate our wedding anniversary. To be blunt, the food was amazing and the service was horrible. We had the meatballs and the rice balls to start. Both were delicious. The focaccia was great and we had a margarita pizza which my wife said was the closest she had ever tasted to pizza from Italy. On to the staff. At first, the waitress was friendly, polite and knowledgeable about the menu. After our food arrived, we did not see our waitress again. No check in, no refill of drink’s- nothing. We finished and talked a bit. Then we noticed the tables around us turning over and realized we have not seen our waitress for 30-45 mins. I looked and she was no where to be found. I spoke to someone who appeared to me to be a manager as he was helping staff. I told him what happened and he said oh, she must be on her break. I was shocked to hear that. I asked who was supposed to cover my table when she goes on a break and he said oh, ahh, I guess I’ll come over. He brought us desert menus and disappeared. We didn’t see him for 15 minutes then he popped by while walking past and said I’ll be with you shortly. During that time another waiter noticed the menus and asked if we needed anything. He took our order and the desert and coffee came before the manager came back to see if we needed anything. I know the place is new and the market was swamped and the restaurant had a 2 hour wait without a reservation, but being busy is no excuse for this. We sat at 3:45 and left at 6:15. That is a long time for 2 people and for the food we ordered. Side note, I have never heard of waitstaff going on a break mid shift, Is this something new?? I have seen the lunch team turnover to the dinner team and get introduced to the new wait staff but never had someone go on a break- that I know of. Bottom line is that the food outweighs the bad experience and we will go back again. We will give them one more chance.

I would wait to go until they worked out the kinks or just got their act together. Two of our dishes came out late and were not very good. Waited 30+ Minn for the wine we ordered and it was very hard to get our servers attention/ she barely came around. Unfortunately It really was not worth going. Poor and just underwhelming to say the least.

Had a reservation and was seated promptly party of 3. At 1pm they were out of Halibut, no biggie, the tinny salmon was ok. The chicken was supposed to be with seasonal salad on the side but all we got is few huge leaves to fill the plate. No seasoning, no oil, nothing, but freshly washed and watery. The pasta dish was cold and soggy. The service was extremely slow. Our server had tables all over the restaurant not by sections. The total meal time for 3 dishes no appetizer, just water took 1;45 minutes!!!!! Really long time. Hopefully they will get their acts together. The one in the city is busier but way better quality in both food and service
