    We had a really nice evening - service was excellent- both friendly and efficient. Sharing platter starter was good. Thought portions were quite modest apart from the steak which we didn’t rate. It was tough and fatty and tasted of ham - wondered if it had been cooked in a pan with the gammon? The Eton mess was also disappointing- over whipped cream and little flavour. Music was pleasant and not overbearing. Overall ambience was great.

    Lovely lunch at Elkwater. Food excellent and staff very friendly and efficient. Food and wine of a very high standard. If I had to choose something to improve on it would be the amount of bread served with the Camembert cheese. Not enough for a while cheese. We did ask for more and this was brought to us so not a huge issue.
