Ember on Brick Lane is the second restaurant by chef Craig Ian McAlpine and is turning heads with its fantastic range of international dishes. Had reasonably high hopes for Ember given the reviews, never been a fan of Come Dine With Me so the fact it was founded by an ex-winner of the show held little appeal. Service was deeply average, waitress didn't even know what tender stem broccoli was..!?! Whilst there was lots on the menu that appealed on the service, I thought the cooking was average with the cod cheeks being massively overcooked. Also not a lot of space on the 2-person tables which is completely ridiculous given it serves small plates and one is inclined to order more than just 2 which is about all there was space for not including drinks..! All in all, somewhat of a disappointment but worth checking out if you're looking for somewhere average and easy on Brick Lane. There is a speakeasy type bar in the basement as an additional point which looked ok.

Lovely food, lovely space and great service. Beautifully presented food and lots of something that's 'a little bit different' - enjoyed it very much and was great for me as I am Coeliac and about 95% of the menu was gluten free ! Just look out for it as its through a doorway towards the back of what looks like a Chocolate cocktail bar from the outside - easy to miss and walk past it!

Recently opened, initially pop-up, but may stay a while longer, according to owner/chef. Met up with some friends who were visiting from NYC. We really enjoyed all of the small plates which we shared. Tender meats, particularly the flat iron steak, crunchy and delicious vegetables, loved the kale and smoked sweet potato. The restaurant was quite empty, which was a surprise, having read good reviews on various platforms before booking. I'm glad I still had room for dessert, we shared three of them initially and they were all sublime. An additional rum 'n' raisin ice cream to finish left me resolute that I will return here again and introduce other friends and family to this lovely new restaurant on Brick Lane.

Fantastic little restaurant with a real intimate feel. Food was awesome. Service was a little slow but we were in no rush. Highly recommended.

Great food, lovely staff and great drinks selection. The restaurant itself is delightfully minimalistic. Definitely give this place a try! Cool wee bar downstairs too
