Hidden in plain sight, a step through an unassuming secret entrance within Craft & Commerce transports guests to False Idol’s faux tropical paradise complete with traditional Polynesian elements of fire & ice (including an indoor waterfall and flaming volcano). We enlisted a team of legendary tiki artists to fashion a fully immersive environment that pays tribute to the imagined “false idols” of mid-century American worship.

I think the place is a little overrated, was pretty hard to get a reservation here. Definitely other great cocktail bars that make tiki drinks. Still a cool experience but not worth the hassle.

The ambience is great. It’s dark in there but not to dark where you can’t see anything. The drinks are on point and the service was great.

Absolutely top notch drinks! The best cocktails we’ve had in San Diego. The service was matched by Marla our server! The decor was abundant. Truly felt like a get away!

The best Tiki vibes south of Trader Sam’s. Excellent drinks (Painkiller and Tradewinds) at typical prices. Great service. Tiki lounge music. Stick around for someone to order Akala the Fierce or do it yourself-it’s worth it.

Always a favorite. Love this place!!!! Our hostess last night was so friendly and recognized us as repeat guests which is always appreciated. We also interacted with two servers who were also lovely humans. Drinks were on point as usual. OMG I want hot buttered rum year round. We ended our evening with dinner at another favorite CH establishment Ironside. Total CH stan here. All of their places are total bangers.

We really enjoyed our first visit to False Idol. The hostess was so helpful and sweet. There was a wide variety of drinks and we loved the ones we ordered. The ambiance is wonderful and very festive. We'll definitely visit again when we're in San Diego.
