Had a delicious brunch with my son. Ordered challah French toast and my son ordered eggs. Generous portions and well prepared. Comfy place to enjoy meal and catch up. My go to place for brunch and/or lunch.

Our waiter simply could not get our (very simple) drink orders correct - I mean it was just ridiculous after a while and he kept insisting they were fine (he came over at the end of the meal and finally understood how he had screwed them up). Did not comp a single drink. Total amateur hour. Veggie Gnochi was really good…..Casesar salad was medium good with waaaay too many croutons. Kale salad was inedible, it tasted like somebody just dumped a ton of white vinegar and left it that. Awful. We have gone to FR many many times over the past 10 (or more) years and the quality steadily decreases, especially when they’re busy it seems. This time we agreed that we did not need to come back, or surely not for a real meal.

I went here with my girlfriend. I had the Mardi Gras Crab Po Boy and she had the Short rib Parmentier. Both were delicious! My real issue was with the dessert. On the mardi gras seasonal menu there was bananas foster, which I ordered for dessert. And to be honest, it was not good. I don't know if it was the caramel sauce or the bananas, but on the first bite something was extremely off about it. I tried a second bite but had to spit it out. Having had bananas foster in New Orleans and even other restaurants in NYC, this was extremely disappointing, and a very unsatisfactory end to the meal. My girlfriend really liked the Tiramisu though, so I would recommend that.

Have loved French Roast since the 90s. Only issue: the table next to us was super-loud. So much so it interrupted the conversation at my table many times. And that was pretty loud, for me, as I love the party. French Roast is a restaurant, not a club.

We had an amazing Mardi Gras feast at French Roast! The food was incredible - from the Crawfish Chorizo Cake to the Seafood Boil and Jambalaya, everything was delicious! The live band, decorations, and beads made us feel like we were in New Orleans. Our waitress Lena was fantastic, keeping our Sazerac Cocktails flowing all night. Great night with friends! Get there before it’s over.

1) My advance request for a QUIET table wasn't honored. I had to point out the quiet table to the hostess. 2) The waitress service was just the right tone of pleasant and performing. In the future I will know to ask for a pot of hot water, instead of just a cup. Also with the pot another cup for holding the stale water. 3) I was very pleased with my escargots, and I asked for extra bread--which was excellent. However, when at my request, the bread was packed, the butter was omitted. 4) I hope to eat my way thru your menu for its fresh food and excellent execution. 5) I have found that tipping 1/3rd results in attentive wait staff that looks well nourished.
