Food good. Had Rib Cap - delicious and tender. They only serve a couple a night. Music from bar was a nice addition. We were seated at a table close enough to see but far enough that it was pleasant background music. Wine selection was very good and the service was good.

Ambience was great! They have live music every night, a full bar, and service was wonderful! Unfortunately, the food was disappointing:( My husband had rib eye and it tasted like reheated leftover. I had the pork chop Marsala, it was just so so.

Great fresh seasonal menu! The filet was cooked to perfection The shrimp cocktail was huge, enough to share. Our waiter was attentive and the food arrived piping hot. Atmosphere is great. Enjoyed some music at the bar before supper. Always a stop for us when we are in town!

wonderful dining experience, the appetizers were great, the entrees were outstanding, and we were so stuffed we couldn't manage dessert. The clincher on why the service was top notch, my wife used the restroom, and her gold necklace came off without her realizing, we didn't notice until we got back to the hotel, we called on the off chance someone had turned it in, the girl who answered the phone went to check our booth, and the bathroom, she found it in the stall, like I said above and beyond our expectations. Awesome place !

We come up to Nevada City for one thing, fondue dinner at Friar Tuck’s. So imagine our surprise when we got seated and looked at the menu and while the cheese fondue was still available, dinner fondue was no longer on the menu. Our server told us it was because of a new California law, which I know is incorrect because The Melting Pot is still open and serving dinner fondue in Sacramento. We ordered steak and pasta and it was fine, but nothing super special to write home about. We’ve had our last meal at Friar Tuck’s. :-(
    Friar Tuck's Restaurant & BarResponded on 28 October 2024
Hi Eric, We understand that people are disappointed we had to remove the hot oil fondue, but it’s too risky to serve without the right setup. The Melting Pot can offer it because they have custom electric tables. We serve hot fondue on a small stand heated by a candle, and without an electric table, we’d need to use marine fuel, which is now banned in California. Other fuels we tested couldn’t keep the oil hot enough, and the alternatives that could are too costly to be viable. Removing the hot oil fondue wasn’t our choice; it’s a matter of regulation. We hope you understand and will visit us again soon.
