   Good family meal at a lovely pub. Much enjoyed the food with lots of options on the menu - burger was particularly good. Friendly service on a busy night.

   Very helpful staff, good menu choices. Good that there was a lunch time special deals menu. Main menu had very widw selection with good value for money. Liked that staff gave us plenty of time to view menu and select our choices, also that they didn't keep bothering us.

   Booked a table at The George, Backwell for Sunday lunch. We used to go there a lot but stopped going as it was poor value for money. We hadn't been back in almost 2 years so was really looking forward to trying it out again. The service was very quick, we sat down and our needs were attended to. The food arrived very quickly, however, it was luke warm to say the least, which is not nice for a Sunday Roast, as I want to enjoy the food before it becomes stone cold. I asked for extra gravy, 1 to warm up my food but 2 because I had hardly any gravy compared to my husband. We ate the food, which was Ok and then sat by the fire and had another drink. All was going well until we got the bill - we were charged £1 for the extra gravy and over £6 for the service, which was to do nothing more than to bring 2 plates of cold food to our table - our table was also right by the kitchen. We had to go to the bar for our drinks, so not much table service. I object to being hit with a large service bill for almost no service and to charge for the extra gravy is miserly! Certainly does not encourage anyone to want to go back. A very expensive lunch for a very mediocre meal.

   Pleased to see the George is back serving high quality food. Prices are a little high, but the ambience was comfortable and the service relaxed without being slow

   We were a group of 6 and there was plenty of choices on the menu to suit all tastes and appetites. Friendly, helpful service in a great atmosphere. Will look forward to our next visit.

   The experience was spoilt by a charge for additional gravy. Unfortunately, I didn't notice the charge until I got home. This is not acceptable. The additional gravy came in a very small container and was not worth £1.50.

   Disappointed with my choice and the time it took to get served. Menu said mushroom pie with cabbage, green beans, roast potatoes, leeks and gravy. I got (45 mins later) mushroom pie, boiled potatoes and 4 old looking carrots on the side. No leeks, no beans no leeks, no roast potatoes as described. Didn't complain or ask to check the menu at the time as the waiters were so busy, it was hard to get their attention.

   Some items of food (pudding and soup) were not hot throughout, fish main course was over cooked. Service was patchy errors for orders for coffee were made and not corrected until a reminder given. Overall the restaurant was busy and appeared to be understaffed with quality control in the kitchen inconsistent.
