   I requested 2 weeks in advance a nice quiet table for 2 to celebrate my 28th wedding anniversary, and got a small table right outside the kitchen. Every time someone when in/out of the kitchen I got a view staring into the kitchen. Possibly the worst dinner table I have ever had. Had to eat at a hi top in the bar.

   While the food at Gibson’s Steakhouse in Oak Brook is undeniably fantastic, the dining experience left much to be desired. My husband and I went for a date night, and unfortunately, the atmosphere was so loud that we could barely hear our waiter speak, let alone have a conversation. Despite making a reservation a week in advance, we were seated in a cramped corner right by the kitchen. The constant flow of waitstaff running back and forth made the entire evening feel chaotic and anything but relaxing. For a place with such a reputation (and prices to match), we expected more care in seating and creating a pleasant ambiance for their guests. If you’re looking for a peaceful or romantic dining experience, this may not be the best choice.

   We ordered a few dishes. The Caesar salad was bland and needed salt and pepper. The burger was decent. The sautéed spinach was just steamed and had no seasoning. The mushrooms were good but could have used other things. Fries were a bit cold. The turtle pie was big but very bland. The food was overall decent. The service was a bit slow and awkward. We were told to wait when we came for our reservation on time. Just not as stellar an experience as the one downtown.

   This was my second time in Chicago and my second visit to this Gibson's location. It was a Saturday night so it was packed and the ambiance was very energetic. It was loud, as expected, but it was not annoyingly loud. The food was outstanding, everything from the salads to the dessert. The hustle and bustle of the wait staff was constant. My only, I won't even calling a complaint, I will say my annoyance with the evening was the way I felt rushed by the gentleman who put the bread plates out and cleared cups and dishes. We weren't even done with our salads or dinners or dessert and he was asking to clear the plates. For what I paid for those dinners I was not going to let him throw any of it away. I felt as soon as we sat down he was throwing bread plates in front of us, literally throwing. I had wine left and he took my glass away. I understand that tables need to be turned over but it's not like we were done and paid for and just sitting wasting time. We were still eating and drinking. I was meeting my family who drove 300 miles to meet us in Chicago to watch my son in a sports tournament. We wanted to enjoy our evening for a few hours together. Overall it was a fantastic evening and we will definitely go back next time we're in Chicago, but it's the little things like that that can ruin a celebratory dinner.

   The customer service was excellent, everyone was pleasant. The food was excellent but the crab cakes was thee best I’ve ever had. I would definitely go back for the crab cakes alone. We had a reservation time and was seated immediately. My overall experience was a 5 ☺️

   The service was excellent. The steaks were dry and overly charred. One was not the requested temperature.

   Quick supper for a birthday celebration. Soup and salad were great with decadent clam chowder and French Dip with fries was a treat. Complimentary Crème Brûlée was management’s way of saying “Happy Birthday!” Giorgio is a fun waiter—always remembers us!

    We had an 8pm reservation for 8 of us and had to wait almost 30 minutes for our table
