Real Italian food, as it should be!

It’s a beautiful modern open plan restaurant with floor to ceiling windows overlooking Old Hall Street. Talking of skylines, you have to visit 360 Sky Bar on the top floor, it’s a huge contemporary terrace which has unrivalled views over Liverpool and the River Mersey, I can’t wait for you to see it.

Serving real Italian food as it should be, the menu really does have something for everyone. Check out my new lounge bar as well, it serves one of the biggest selections of Prosecco, sparkling wine and Franciacorta in the UK, with over 30 varieties for you to choose from. Pop by for a drink after work or enjoy one or two while you dine, the choice is yours.

    We arrived on time, but it took 15 minutes for someone to take our drinks order, and only after we asked. Drinks and food were ordered together, but the starter took 20 minutes to arrive. Shortly after, the same starter was mistakenly brought out again. The main course then took over an hour to arrive, despite other tables being served promptly, with new guests seated and receiving their mains in the meantime. When we inquired about the delay, a senior waiter was dismissive, saying “soon” without checking. Another staff member was asked but never returned with an update. Finally, a third server informed us it wouldn’t be long. The overall service was unacceptable, and the management was both rude and unprofessional.

    Waited 20 minutes for someone to come and ask about a drink order, then had to ask them to take order. Starter and main were then quite quick at being served but then waited an hour for dessert. Our receipt had the next tables drink on it.

    This was our first visit to Gino's and we were excited to experience it. We were greeted pleasantly and professionally and quickly shown to our table. One of our party is over 6ft tall and struggled with the low seating but being a shorter woman, I was quite comfortable though we kept losing the back cushions through our chairs. It wasn't too busy despite our visit being between Christmas and New Year. The restaurant was two thirds full but the dining noise was manageable and we could easily talk between ourselves. Three of us opted for 3 course festive menu which was more than I would normally pay at £49.50 per head (a £10 supplement were added for my husband's steak) however, as this was a treat we expected to pay more. Our waiter was dismissive and rude to our friend who opted for the main menu. We ordered the pinot grigio at £34/bottle was pleasant and refreshing. The food was well portioned and excellently prepared though my sea bass was only accompanied by a bed of tomato salsa. If you have a larger appetite then you may need to order extra sides. Courses were well timed and clearance was efficient in-between Our biggest concern was that the service we received once our orders were taken was minimal and not at all attentive. We needed to ask 3 separate servers to take a drinks order and finally we sent my husband to the bar instead. It may have felt more of a special visit if we had just one member of staff to wait the table and check back with us more regularly as to our needs. We were asked why we opted to remove the service charge from our bill and my friend explained to the manager our issues with service. He listened fully and thanked our friend for the feedback.

    We opted for arancine balls, Parma bruschetta for starters.. meatballs for main & tiramisu and a espresso panna cotta… all were delicious and very generous portion size.

    A nice restaurant with a good food menu, even if the wine menu is a little limited. Good service and friendly staff. But strangely for the time of year it was very quiet and so ambience a little flat

    My sister and I had a wonderful experience from the moment we arrived to when we left. All the members of staff were friendly and helpful, in fact they couldn’t have been nicer. Plus to top it all our meals looked and tasted delicious. We would highly recommend a lunch or dinner at Gino’s.
