Chef Stephanie Izard and her team are thrilled to have joined LA’s vibrant restaurant community and continue our tradition of serving bold-flavored foods in a fun and lively family-style setting. Stephanie and her team have also crafted new dishes inspired by California produce and local flavors, like carrot-tahini dip with tahini tofu, and curried goat with radishes, pickled vegetables, and masa chips. To enhance the experience we offer a selection of wines from around the world with a focus on small producers, a rotating list of craft beers, and a list of innovative cocktails created by our bartenders.

Located in the Arts District at 555 Mateo, Girl & the Goat offers dinner service Monday through Sunday, plus brunch Sunday. Girl & the Goat accepts reservations but always welcomes walk-ins, travelers and adventurers!

Food was a bit over sauced but intriguing flavors. My group of 6 was expecting more typical pairings of flavors. We were asked by our server to order 2 dishes each and eat family style. In terms of portions, I think ordering one appetizer and one entree is probably more adequate amount of food. We ordered too much food. The chicken breast was a bit overpowering with the roasted garlic. We loved the homemade Naan and Shrimp salad. We sat outside and the heaters kept us warm and were thankful that it was quieter to allow conversation,

My friend was running 15 minutes late due to traffic and they gave our table away even though they had just opened.

Not to exaggerate, but every single dish on the menu was absolutely incredible! From the moment we walked in, the ambiance set the tone for an unforgettable meal. The Goat Liver Mousse was rich, creamy, and perfectly seasoned—each bite was a delightful burst of flavor that melted in my mouth. Then, the Goat Neck was just as extraordinary—tender, juicy, and cooked to perfection, with just the right amount of seasoning to bring out the natural flavors. It’s rare to find a place where every item on the menu leaves such a lasting impression, but this one certainly did. The quality, the creativity, and the passion that went into every dish were undeniable. I would highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a truly exceptional dining experience. Without a doubt, I’ll be coming back to enjoy it all again!

We so enjoyed our dinner, but service was slow. It took 20 mins for a glass of wine to arrive, & our last plate took a full 50 mins. It was not our first visit on a busy Friday night, so the wait times just felt off, especially considering they set 90 min limits on tables of 2. If they’d held us to that time, we wouldn’t have received our full meal. All in all, the food was still delicious & we will absolutely return.

Each dish was outstanding; we had the best salad, grilled oysters, bass, and goat shank (dishes are shared). Wonderful and surprising tastes in each dish. Service was superlative, server even going out of her way to find out my question of what kind of oysters we had (North Bay from Washington state). A small touch I liked was servers not having to ask who was having which cocktail or wine, even when another server brought it. Five stars plus!
