It's a magical drive in the snow to the castle. What a peaceful, beautiful, private and romatic experience driving up to and entering the castle. So inviting and warm inside with the gas fireplace and woodpaneled walls. There are two tea rooms. I was in the one with the soft green walls with white trim. It's a christian retreat and organization so there's no champagne tea, only a mocktail version. There was a beautiful menu and wonderful selection of teas to choose from... herbal, white, green, black, and many variations. The pumpkin soup, first, the salad both very good. The three tier tray came next... The lamb sandwich on a brioche bun was hearty, delicious, moist and perfect. The empanada with red pepper sauce unique and interesting. The scones were a dissapointment as the desserts. There was a cranvberry scone and a pumpkin scone. i think having a traditional scone.. I knock a killer scone out of the park with the King Arther Flour cream scone recipe.. flaky tender. These were more dense. And there was no variation of clotted cream or traditional butter. Whipped cream and cream cheese spread. I make a quick clotted cream recipe with a litttle cream cheese that still tastes like clotted cream and easy to make and save for later. Even with seasonal teas I would have one of the two scones being a traditional one year round that's top shelf recipe. Two desserts. No one ate the mint filling layer on the brownie petitfour.. .it was thick and no one like the egg nog mini cheesecakes. Not true cheesecake. Maybe for scones and desserts maybe less creative and more traditional and delicious. I still will go back and enjoy the beautiful space, the grounds which are only accessible by having a tea reservation or a night at the hotel. IT's worth it! Because it's exeception i had very picky standards for the tea.

The best tea in Colorado. Far surpassed the Brown Palace's and Babe's High Tea. Of course it doesn't hurt to be served in this historic, epic Castle

A long-time bucket list item for a mommy daughter tea date. I went with my sister in law and niece. I'm a foodie with an adventurous palate, and I enjoyed every bite that came with our tea service. However, the younger (8 and 11) were a little bit picky and only enjoyed the sweet treats. The tea options were excellent. I like that each of us was able to have our own pot of tea. This allowed us the ability to sample more of the flavors. All of them were delicious. The service was great. Our waitress was sweet, bubbly, and knowledgeable. There was a tour running during our service for a brief time that was a bit noisy. Accessing the restrooms would be my only negative note. It seemed like all of the restrooms were occupied every time any of us went to use them. I would recommend this experience, and suggest keeping in mind the savory items would most be enjoyed by people who are adventurous with their food.

It was a very cold day and roads and parking areas were icy to be expected on such a rustic property but do feel they could use some handicap improvements - especially as General Palmer was himself handicapped by back injury. I know they are not done with renovations, but suggestions would be for improved ice removal in handicap parking area, handrails to get up the awkward stone steps into the castle entrance, safety bars in the bathroom and railing to get up and down step into the old and very quaint first floor bathroom which has a deadly step down that is extremely unsafe and a serious fall hazard. Other than that, I will go again as staff is friendly and the experience enjoyable. The grounds are a wildlife treasure and historical landmark to the Pikes Peak Region.

We loved the experience! The food at tea wasn’t “kid friendly”, but my kids did at least try everything. The desserts and pastries they of course loved. They also enjoyed the tea itself. My husband and I loved everything! Will definitely go back!

I was able to enjoy a nice afternoon tea with my son. The Winter tea menu was good, the chef's accommodated our vegetarian diet as well.

Had tea and it was a great experience. The servers were a little loud with their explanations but that was the only negative. Great food and tea.
