About this restaurant

  • Fancy
  • Good for special occasions
  • Good for business meals
Approachable sophisticated Pacific Northwest cuisine, simply prepared using the finest regional ingredients and served in a dining room with maritime-inspired design and sweeping views of Elliott Bay.

Goldfinch Tavern is a collaboration between Ethan Stowell and Four Seasons Hotel Seattle. Named for the state bird of Washington, the American Goldfinch.

The upscale tavern pays homage to the city’s pioneer days, when taverns catered to lumberjacks and sailors alike, providing a place for travelers and locals to both socialize and conduct business, all while enjoying drinks and food.

The service was robotic and overtrained, not sophisticated, professional or natural. The food was bland.

Went here for my wife’s birthday. Service was great and cocktails were terrific. That said, Seattle has some top notch food near the market so if you are going to charge nearly $60 for a salmon steak it better be fantastic. My daughter ordered the salmon and asked if they could adjust the saucing (a beurre blanc) as she is lactose intolerant - the server said absolutely. The kitchen’s solution was to serve the salmon with nothing else on the plate. Other orders were better but small portions for the price. Best food were the apps, especially battered spring onions with romesco sauce that were top notch. I had the clams which were just ok, and the beet and crab salad (I had ordered the heirloom tomato salad but it looked great so I went with it) which was really delicious. Desserts were also very good and much more reasonably priced for the quality. Overall generally great food but uneven quality. Location is fantastic and the restaurant is comfortable with lovely views of the water.

What a magical place! The tenth anniversary celebration was festive yet a chill vibe. The service was as awesome as ever - and Ethan Stowell was shucking oysters! Always reliably delightful - don't miss a chance to celebrate at Goldfinch.

Stop the service charge. I will not tip more with your stupid explanation of why you do it.

Excellent service! The waitress was wonderful. The food was surprisingly uneventful. We got the mushroom risotto and the clams- each were quite bland in flavor, saved by a side of grated pecorino Romano. It was very expensive and I felt the food did not match the cost, unfortunately. Overall, we had a very nice date and the restaurant itself was pretty ( although a a bit hotel-like) and the standout was the service!

We had an excellent experience during Happy Hour. All of the four food items we had were excellent. We particularly enjoyed the wagyu sliders. The Washington cider (as bubbly as a sparkling wine) and ale were also outstanding.
