Second year in a row for New Year’s Eve dinner. A festive atmosphere. Well organized from the time you valet park to the dining experience. The menu is not too risqué, which is good for us, and the appetizers, entrees and side dishes were all well prepared, cooked to perfection, and served hot. The cocktails were very good but the ladies were not thrilled with their drink, feeling it lacked flavor. All were pleased with their steaks but the my wife was not thrilled with her halibut, leaving half of it behind. The desserts were excellent. You don’t dine at Grill 23 for value. The prices are higher than average (a steak will run about $72 a $92). I believe the petit fillet is less expensive. The maitre d and wait staff are excellent, attentive without being overbearing. Our waiter had good command of the wine list and dessert cordials, although for the price paid ($700 without tip) a visit to the table by a sommelier would have been nice. We added a 20% gratuity to the check. The valet was $30 and parked my car out front. For that service he was tipped well. Well done. After many years in business, I still think Grill 23 is one of the best in Boston.

Grill 23 just isn’t what it used to be. The food quality has suffered and you get the feeling of being in a chain restaurant rather than a “premium” steakhouse.

What an amazing experience. Everything we ordered was delicious from the cocktails through dessert. Our waitress was friendly and offered great recommendations when we were narrowing down selections.

We ordered steak frites and Filet Mignon . The food temperature was warm at best and the Filet Mignon was a little. The steak frites had nice flavor and was tender. The Tatter Tots were bland and not worth $19 dollars. The French Onion Soup was flavorful, but again only warm. The service was great and for a hopping New Year's Eve, we never felt unattended. Our server "Cooper" was knowledgeable about the menu and offered suggestions.

The food is expensive for what you get. The steaks are good but large. The sides are smaller than the price would make you think, even though they are family style. Each side was dry, warm temp and unseasoned. We actually had 6 of them in a group of 8, so that is across the menu. The lobster bisque is served in a shallow bowl and had about 4 bites of lobster. I tried to make smaller pieces so I could have a bite with each spoonful to make me feel better about the cost. We did not do dessert. Our waiter, Tanner, was a gem!
