Since 1946, Gus’s has been serving the good folks of South Pasadena (and beyond!) true Southern hospitality and some of the best real pit BBQ around. Housed on historic Route 66, Gus’s is a tribute to Southern life, where family, tradition and celebration are of the utmost importance. A menu filled with traditional Southern cooking and authentic, wood-smoked BBQ is complemented by an impressive range of whiskies, wines, cocktails and local craft beers. Today, Gus’s is a space for a warm welcome, a cold mint julep, and a big plate of the best flavors from the American South and Midwest. Haven’t been here in few years and I was craving the pull pork nachos and fried chicken so badly… brought family hoping to duplicate the same amazing experiences as previously but unfortunately, the food didn’t come close to what I was remembering or hoping to repeat my experience. The spare rib was dry, brisket was salty, and chicken was too greasy and not much flavor… nacho did not have much of that white sauce that made it delicious and pulled pork just had large chunks. Service was great but as very disappointed with the food.

I cannot believe there is not a line a mile long to queue for this cue. The ribs were perfect. The sides were awesome. This is the best restaurant in greater Pasadena area.

Have dined at Gus’s many times and it was another wonderful evening at Gus’s. With the first game of the 2024 World Series on the tv screens the crowd was lively, food delicious as always, our server Javier fantastic.
