Gwen Butcher Shop & Restaurant is the second restaurant from fine dining chef Curtis Stone (of Maude) and the first he’s opened with his brother Luke Stone. Gwen is both a European-style, chef-driven butcher shop and a restaurant that is redefining dining in LA, with a menu that calls on fire-based cooking techniques. Whether you’re picking up house-made charcuterie, prime and rare breed meats from the retail store, enjoying a feast in the dining room or relaxing with a bite and cocktail at the bar, Gwen delivers the highest standards of quality, taste and service.

On Wednesdays-Sundays, we offer Chef's Carte Blanche 5-course tasting menu for $130 per person (limited quantities available). The whole party must enjoy the tasting menu and wine pairings are available for $75 per person. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the restaurant at 323-946-7500.

    MICHELIN 1 Star

    2023

From the OpenTable editors: Part high-end butcher shop, part steakhouse, Gwen is the brainchild of Curtis Stone and his brother Luke Stone. The MICHELIN-Starred experience is a celebration of all things meat: The dramatic dining room is surrounded by glass-enclosed dry-age rooms and a central fire pit. Expect housemade charcuterie, pasta with bacon Bolognese, and impressive steaks like a 30-day aged Creekstone Farm ribeye.

Service was flat. Never once offered to refill my drink. When a drink that we ordered was not to our liking because it featured an ingredient that was not mentioned in the menu, we asked for a replacement and were charged for both when we clearly did not drink the original drink. I’m pretty sure the thing I said I ordered didn’t get recorded properly and they also messed up part of our order that I had to have corrected after the bill came. It’s like they try to do all the standard fancy restaurant moves but don’t quite get it right with thoughtfulness. Meat was almost cold when it came out. I get that resting is important but not at the expense of it coming out cool. It also was under. I like medium rare but they undercooked to the temp. Hard to fix when it’s presliced. On the plus, bread and butter were fabulous as was the dessert that we had.

Service from all asssociates was excellent from hostess stand to tables servers. Quality of steaks was excellent though fish course was lacking much flavor. Warm bread was nice introduction to meal and went well with drinks.

Amazing food, even the bread and butter was some of the best I’ve ever had. Went there to celebrate our anniversary and were given champagne to celebrate when they found out my wife was pregnant they came back with a non alcoholic wine she could have. Dry aged ribeye was flawless and the duck fat potatoes were next level. Finished with wonderful Banoffee pie. Would definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for a great steakhouse meal and can’t wait to return. Prices are high but absolutely worth the quality of what you get.

Restaurant is beautiful. The staff is attentive and great Ambience is terrific. The food is very good and worth the price but my expectations were that i would be blown away by the steak and neither i nor my dining companion would say that it was really exceptional. But others might have a different take on it and o would encourage others to see and taste for themselves.

This was our first time to Gwen. When we first walked in we were greeted with a smile by the hostess and seated immediately. We enjoyed the upstairs dining room that was quiet and cozy. Jordan or server was attentive, friendly and very knowledgeable answering our questions and giving spot on recommendations. As each course was served the entire service team were friendly and explained what we were about to eat. We started with cocktails and the charcuterie board that awoke our pallettes for what else was to come. We also the loved the sunchokes with black sesame hummus. For our main we ordered the Wagyu flat iron steak, black truffle papadelle, roasted mushrooms and duck fat potatoes. The flavors of our entire meal all went well together leaving us pleased with our choice. We ended our meal with cappuccino and the banoffee pie for dessert. We had the best time and left us excited to return talking about what we would order next time.
