Carlos Gaytán, the first Mexican chef with a Michelin Star both inside and outside of Mexico, presents HA’, a unique proposal in Contemporary Mexican Cuisine in Riviera Maya. With a 9-course tasting menu in which, Carlos shows us that flavors, textures and temperatures are elements that tell us a surprising story and help us learn about his love for his roots.

                      Every single course was phenomenal. Excellent attention to detail for everything from flavor to presentation. The staff were extremely attentive and knowledgeable. We were not staying at the Xcaret property, but this meal was well worth the trip out there. I am looking forward to coming back when I am in Playa!

                      Service was very attentive at the start of our meal at 6:30pm. As other diners arrived the staff became stretched and less responsive to our table. The descriptions of wines and food were quite short compared to similar restaurants. This was both a positive by eliminating excess or unwanted server interaction and a negative by discouraging questions and desired server interaction. It may have been a side-effect of the staff being stretched. Our principal server was very accommodating for the preferences of one in our party to avoid certain foods (but is not allergic to them). Most of us declined the wine pairing. We were given several mocktails which paired poorly with the food and were little more than a distraction. I sampled the wines served to my spouse. I thought they ranged from good to exceptional. All were far better than the house wines at the other Xcaret restaurants. The filet mignon was disappointing for some of us who felt it compared poorly to the beef served at Tah-xido hibachi. It was dry and lacked both flavor and complexity. Other courses were wonderfully complex and flavorful. At $146 plus gratuity without wine, this meal is a bargain. The wine pairing costs only $47 plus gratuity. If you don’t want the wine, try asking them not to serve all the mocktails. That might save you about $10 per person.

                      This is more than good food, it’s a gastronomic drama that is exciting and perfectly prepared dishes. The quality of food and services are a reminder of what Michelin stars are all about. The decor is interesting and the water features are over the top cool. I recommend Ha above many San Francisco 2stars I’ve visited. Well done!!!

                      Excellent experience at Ha! Very reasonably priced for a 1 star Michelin restaurant. The wine pairing was wonderful with delicious choices of wines. Beautifully decorated and designed space. Excellent cocktails - the mezcal drink was a favorite.

                      Had the most amazing experience at Há. We decided to do the wine pairing and it was worth it! Everything from the welcome cocktail to dessert was beyond delicious. All of the servers were super knowledgeable and kind to us. We will never forget our dinner here!
