   We had the fried oysters, ceviche, crabcakes and salmon - everything was delicious!! Service was top notch. We went to dinner for my husband’s birthday and they gave him a handwritten note - i love that special touch :)

   5 of us went for dinner last night. The service in the bar area was excellent. The dining room service and food was tasty (my fish was a tad cooled down). The noise level allowed for conversation, which seems to be lost on many restaurants hyping energetic vibe. Thank you for a memorable meal and celebration.

   The flavors in all the food were deliciously melded together. The grits were savory, thick & hearty. The cod was top notch! The bread & salted butter superb & the chocolate peanut butter pie was thick; more like cheesecake texture.

   Staff was pleasant and extremely knowledgeable, and made us feel welcome from the start. Our server, Kyle B, was outstanding. Favorites of the evening were Chesapeake Oysters, She Crab Soup, crab cakes and the sautéed cod. DEFinitely planning a trip back soon!

   From the moment we stepped in to the moment we left, the entire staff made us feel like we were royalty. From the waiter to the staff who would stop and ask if we needed a refill or to take plates off our table. The food was amazing from the raw oysters to the seared grouper. The chocolate peanut better pie is to die for. Wine was perfect. Price point is as expected. You’re getting exceptional food and premier service. Don’t expect Red Lobster pricing. 100% would recommend to anyone.

   Food was very good. However, service was terrible. We arrived 10 minutes early to our 7pm reservation and they made us wait for 20 minutes after our reservation time for a table, what’s the point of a reservation? Went for my wife’s birthday which they acknowledged at the host stand and the table with a card. Entree arrived literally 2 minutes after our appetizer so we had no room at the table and felt rushed to finish. After we finished our entree we waited for our waiter Chris to come back for over 20 minutes. We thought he had left for the night. He then cleared our meals and disappeared for another 20 minutes. We ordered dessert, which is what made us so upset aside from the poor service. Once our waiter brought our dessert he took the tables dessert order next to us. He informed them, because it was their birthday they got a free choice of cake. He did not notify us of this and we had to pay full price. Keep in mind we would’ve ordered the free dessert and he knew it was our birthday. Very upsetting considering we spent $250 on a meal for 2. The food was good so we would like to give them another chance. The service was so bad though that we would probably overlook the quality of food and not return. I’d also like to point out I requested my meal to substitute mash potatoes for the grits and they got that wrong. When I pointed this out to the waiter he brought out a side of mash and didn’t even apologize. They also charged me for a full portion of mash as well. Overall, probably just a bad waiter and possibly worth a shot. This is an expensive restaurant so try it at your own risk. When you spend this much money on a high end dinner you expect to feel special, they made us feel unvalued and unappreciated.

   Nice dinner celebrating a birthday. We had the crab cakes that were like non before delicious and the fried oysters with the she crab soup, all very delicious and well executed. Nice place for a lighter dinner.

   Excellent experience at Hanks. Russell was a wonderful server, precise, present and unobtrusive, and a bit quirky (he made the meal and experience better and fun). The first table we were seated at was cramped close to another table of two and the restaurant was not full and I made reservations as it was a special occasion. Russell improved the awkward seating and gave us a complimentary glass of champagne to celebrate. After we were moved to a more suitable table that offered a slight measure of privacy so we could converse. The appetizer and champagne were marvelous. Oysters were the app and Mumm the champagne. Excellent selection of fish in Columbus Ohio, but a poor showing of the raw bar. Hardly any fish (maybe none), few large shrimp, one crab claw. Odd because this is billed as a seafood place and highlight the raw bar. I ordered grouper and it was excellent fish, perfectly prepared. However the rice it was put on was cold and the fish was hot. Odd. Overall it was a great meal. Concerned about seating if I chose to dine again at Hanks. And why was the rice cold????
