Located in the heart of Gramercy in the restored Assembly Hall of the landmarked United Charities Building, Hawksmoor is a steak restaurant that celebrates all-natural, pasture-reared, and traditionally dry-aged beef. Our beef is seasoned simply with sea salt and cooked over live-fire charcoal. Our seafood is locally and sustainably sourced from northeastern waters and we use small-farm produce whenever possible. On Sunday afternoons Hawksmoor keeps with the tried-and-true British tradition and features a Sunday Roast.

Completing our offerings are award-winning cocktails, including New York City's coldest martini, and a carefully curated wine selection. The restaurant houses 150 in the dining room and 35 in the bar area. There are also two private dining rooms that can hold 12 people and serve exclusive, family-style menus.

  • Sunday Roast

    Multiple dates available
Sundays at Hawksmoor are all about our Sunday Roast: all-natural, dry-aged, slow-roasted Rump served with crispy beef dripping potatoes, Caraflax cabbage and carrots, gigantic Yorkshire puddings, lashings of bone marrow & onion gravy and the option for a side of cauliflower cheese or slow-roasted bone marrow and onions. Sunday Roast dates back to the 15th century where large joints of meat were roasted on a spit over an open fire; to achieve a similar flavor, we start ours on our charcoal grill and finish them in the oven. Many who've had a Sunday Roast equate it to a Thanksgiving dinner – a comforting, filling meal that is best in the company of loved ones. And, should a Bloody Mary, or two, be consumed alongside it, who are we to judge?

Steaks were excellent, sides were so-so, small in portion and not sure the mashed potatoes were even real. One of the servers (not our main one) recommended the carrot side, said they were his favorite and therefore if we would try them, he wouldn’t charge us. They did end up on our bill but we didn’t notice until after we left the restaurant. Server was knowledgeable but not overly friendly, we felt somewhat rushed when it came time to order our food. Ambiance is great, noisy so wouldn’t choose for an intimate date night!

It was not a bad place at all only gave a lower scoring as our waiter switched half way through our service. We came here for a birthday celebration. They recognized our birthday at the hostess table and that was it.

Great greeters, excellent ambiance, way overpriced wine list, portion controlled mini-martini glass wasn’t event filled to the brim, and small sides. They only two things were weren’t small were the servers’ passive-aggressiveness and bill. I loved the meat and ambiance and hated the attitude and owners trying to be clever with serving sizes and other gimmicks (uncut Caesar salad leaves). I will not return even if someone else is paying because there are way too many better options in NYC where patrons are served by pros. Dining out is an experience and the Hawksmoor experience I can do without.

The worst Thanksgiving ever. Noise level of Grand Central Station. Good cocktails. Tough prime ribs almost raw when medium rare was requested. I’ve never been here before but while the staff was pleasant, they were not dressed professionally. The Cabernet by the glass was $40. Thankfully the waiter made me aware of that. Would never go back

We have repeatedly patronized Hawksmoor NYC. Most recently, our family celebrated Thanksgiving at Hawksmoor NYC. Most of us chose the $75 holiday special Prime Rib dinner , with roasted potatoes, carrots and garlic and Yorkshire pudding. Every element of the meal was delicious, with splendid presentation. Our server was Andrea. She is kind and competent. She, along with the previous team members, is deeply familiar with the ingredients and preparation techniques of the menu items.

If you're looking for a restaurant that offers a delightful dining experience , consider a visit to Hawksmor The ambiance is warm and inviting, perfect for a special occasion or a romantic dinner.Service is attentive and knowledgeable, While the prices are on the higher side, the quality of food and overall experience justifies the cost. Will definitely come back For a memorable meal that feels indulgent, **The Gourmet Bistro** is a great choice
