Hawksmoor Wood Wharf is housed in an eco-friendly floating pavilion in a new riverside neighbourhood in Canary Wharf. Gently rising and falling with the tide, the main restaurant at dock-level is joined by a 120-seat waterside bar. Both include terraces with views across the water (squint your eyes and you might just see the ghosts of great ships laden with mighty lengths of timber that used to swing in and unload there). There's also a private dining room for up to 20 people named after the local legend Queenie Watts, a singer, songwriter, actor and self-confessed bawdy landlady (think Peggy Mitchell meets Joni Mitchell). The menu revolves around the best British produce the country has to offer with grass-fed dry-aged ethically reared beef, sustainable seafood from the South coast and some of the biggest hits from the Hawksmoor New York menu.

With the pleasure of dining at Hawksmoor Wood Wharf to celebrate a special birthday, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. This was my first experience at a Hawksmoor, probably because I am a vegetarian but as I was dining with 3 meat eaters I thought I would give it a try. Right from the greeting at the door to the delivery of the bill, the service was top notch and well informed. Even when a waiter accidentally tipped over a glass of wine, the main host delivered a carafe of wine to replace the loss. The view was amazing, the atmosphere buzzing (Tuesday night) and the food was delicious. I had two starters which were veggie and gluten free and either one would have been a good main course. I have a,ready booked my next trip.

The starters were amazing, my partner & I both opted for the Rump Steak which we asked to be cooked medium, it came more well done & rather dry, when asked how our meal was & we explained the reply was oh I’m sorry & was left at that, I wouldn’t mind so much was the bill came to £198 for the 2 of us which isn’t cheap

Matt the waiter took our order and for the rest of the evening he had no other interaction with us. I had to ask another waiter to clear the table after the meal. I complained to another waiter who was quite pleasant, about Matt’s attitude as I watched him wait on the tables either side of us and also in front of us. The waiter who helped us was efficient. We later called another waiter to bring the bill. He prepared the bill which he passed to Matt to present the bill for payment. We watched him refuse to do so. The waiter who prepared and presented the bill was quite pleasant. Matt spoiled our celebration evening….however the food was amazing!!
