Hawksmoor Wood Wharf is housed in an eco-friendly floating pavilion in a new riverside neighbourhood in Canary Wharf. Gently rising and falling with the tide, the main restaurant at dock-level is joined by a 120-seat waterside bar. Both include terraces with views across the water (squint your eyes and you might just see the ghosts of great ships laden with mighty lengths of timber that used to swing in and unload there). There's also a private dining room for up to 20 people named after the local legend Queenie Watts, a singer, songwriter, actor and self-confessed bawdy landlady (think Peggy Mitchell meets Joni Mitchell). The menu revolves around the best British produce the country has to offer with grass-fed dry-aged ethically reared beef, sustainable seafood from the South coast and some of the biggest hits from the Hawksmoor New York menu.

A nice atmosphere in this restaurant and quite busy for a Sunday evening . We had the Winslade wellington for main course as it was so nice last time . This time I would rather have had more celeriac as it was lacking this time and had more cheese but still nice. The salmon starter was lovely and my partner’s baby ribs equally good .

We booked a table for 19:30 and were seated promptly, which was promising. However, things quickly went downhill. After placing our food order around 19:45, we waited until 21:15 for it to arrive. Despite asking several times for an update, the staff failed to communicate or even acknowledge the delay. There was no apology, and it felt like they were avoiding our table entirely. When the food finally arrived, it was cold. For a restaurant of this caliber, this is unacceptable. What could have been an easy fix with basic communication and an apology turned into a thoroughly disappointing experience. Avoid on a Saturday night if you’re expecting decent service or warm food.

Our family of four dined at Hawksmoor Wood Wharf on Saturday night. From the exterior, the building was modern and incredibly beautiful, standing on an island that is hard to miss. We were quickly seated, and the restaurant was almost full by 6:15 pm. Our server spoke moderate English, and I tried to understand the details about the large cuts of Bone-in Prime Rib and their weights. We ended up ordering a 920g Bone-in Prime Rib. Additionally, we ordered half a dozen fresh oysters, Half Dartmouth Lobster, Fries, Macaroni Cheese, 2 Grilled Bone Marrow, Creamed Spinach, Sourdough bread, Still Water, and a bottle of Tyler Pinot Noir 2022 from Santa Rita Hills, USA. Food Review: 920g Bone-in Prime Rib: Ordered medium rare, but it wasn't as expected. It wasn't cooked like a classic prime rib; instead, it was charcoal-grilled on two sides. One side of the meat was well-done, while the other end was rare, almost blue. The burnt crust on most parts of the prime rib made it bitter and unpleasant. Fresh Oysters: They were fresh and good. Half Dartmouth Lobster: Unfortunately, it wasn't fresh, as we could taste the frozen aftertaste. Fries & Macaroni Cheese: Great and kid-friendly, though the portions were rather small. Grilled Bone Marrow: A bit overwhelming due to its oiliness and heavy saltiness. Creamed Spinach: Average and didn't blow my mind. Sourdough bread: Served cold, which was disappointing. To reassess the meat quality, I ordered an additional 400g Rib-eye. The server, noticing my dissatisfaction with the prime rib, promptly served the Rib-eye within 5 minutes. which is rather surprising. The Rib-eye was of better quality but served warm. Overall, I would rate the food 2/10. The wine was great but pricey. We Spent a little over £400.00
