Higher Ground is a British bistro and bar located in Manchester city centre that focuses on seasonality within the UK using produce sourced from local suppliers and producers.

The restaurant is open Wednesday to Saturday at dinner and at lunchtime on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

At lunch a £40pp seasonal sharing menu is offered alongside an à la carte menu. At dinner, both an à la carte and a seasonal sharing menu at £58pp are available. Both menus are available when sat at the kitchen bar counter.

We often hold space for walk-ins at the kitchen bar counter so pop by and have some plates and a glass of wine!

Reservations of up to twelve guests are accepted via the OpenTable online reservation platform. For parties of 7x guests and over, the seasonal sharing menu is served.

    Wonderful experience all round. Friendly, attentive staff who explained things brilliantly. Sommelier was great in talking us through BTG wine options (all 4 of which we had between us were delicious). The food is innovative and highly flavourful, but with some lovely nostalgic/comforting notes. Every dish was delicious and I'd struggle to pick a favourite. Sitting at the high seats by the kitchen added to the experience, but it does get hot there, so be mindful of that when booking.

    This was the best dining experience I’ve had in Manchester. The food, service, ambiance all 10/10. The pig head terrine and the pollock dishes were stand outs.

    Food is well presented and a lot of attention to detail, but little variety and often salty especially the pea fritters and the beef which was on a salty lentil and salsa Verde base. Organic wine was average and over priced. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Despite hearing good things about this restaurant, there ate better establishments in Manchester which offer tastier food and better value.

    Had the seasonal tasting menu which was quite lovely. No menu, just what was fresh on the day. The kitchen counter is great for watching chefs at work. Will happily return.

    We had a fantastic time at Higher Ground and we were particularly impressed with the special non-alcoholic wine option (albeit it was as pricey as a decent bottle of alcoholic wine). The tasting menu was an unravelling of delicious courses, finished by the special dessert that we’ll be attempting to replicate at home! One of the best tasting menus we’ve ever had! A cup of tea at the end would have ended the meal nicely but I can understand that this is perhaps not in keeping with the modern vibe and my husband was pleased with his speciality filter coffee (decaf option would be great to consider too!) We’ll be back
