A sushi bar and Japanese bistro. Inspired by the sushi bars in Tokyo. Himitsu introduces Japanese culture, design, and hospitality to San Diego.

Our 8 person sushi bar and 20 person patio is located in a discrete corner of La Jolla, a setting well suited to our name, which translate to "Secret" in Japanese.

Chef Mitsu Aihara presents a menu of traditional sushi and nigiri, along with Japanese style tapas using the high quality products and ingredients.

                  If you get the chance to sit at the sushi bar and enjoy the beautiful show of Mitsu and his crew, I highly recommend it! The chalkboard is full of delicious sushi all elegantly presented and requiring no soy sauce. The sake cup selection is a lovely touch and the atmosphere is always cozy and welcoming. A La Jolla favorite spot for lunch or dinner.

                  Had the most amazing lunch here at the sushi bar. The chef and servers were wonderful and the food outstanding. When the chef overheard it was our anniversary, he surprised us with a couple of unique items.

                  I came here with my parents at a recommendation from a friend. We sat at the bar and talked with the sushi chef Mitsu. My mom and I ordered omakase and my dad ordered off the menu. Every single sushi was out of this world. For most (if not all) sushi, they were lightly seasoned by the chef so you don't need to dip them into soy sauce. I don't recall the name of the sake I had, but it definitely paired well with the sushi. Highly recommend this restaurant. Make sure to make a reservation ahead of time.

                  Sashimi was flavorful and delicious. Outdoor seating next to parking lot wasn’t ideal. Daily specials were wonderful: Hokkaido scallops, spiny lobster and golden eye snapper.

                  This is the second time I have been here and no other restaurant comes close to the attentiveness and customer service they have. We had the Omakase and it was a great and delicious experience. Will definitely be returning.
