Service was thoughtful although somewhat inexperienced. No standard bread service here but that was ok. My Whiskey Sour to start was excellent. For my dinner salad I had the “Half Wedge”. Very good with ample amounts of bacon, blue cheese, etc. All of the dishes were nicely presented.\n\nGrilled Shrimp Cocktail was interesting. I liked the shrimp but it was quite difficult to enjoy any cocktail sauce. The glass it was served in had a mass of some green ribbon vegetable substance that was tossed in a small amount of cocktail sauce, but it was nearly impossible to get anything out of it. I ordered my Rib Eye medium to ensure a good rendering of all the marbling and it was delicious. Nice amount of pink throughout. The Twice Baked Potato was mostly good. The filling was the best part. Holdren’s Steaks & Seafood, located on State Street, serves up a delicious and diverse menu of seafood and steaks, where the portions are always generous and the prices always reasonable. Our surf and turf menu, including our favorite bacon wrapped stuffed shrimp or our USDA prime steaks that are charbroiled over a mesquite grill, is complimented by an extensive wine list, a healthy assortment of premium spirits, and a selection of signature drinks. Daily meals can be enjoyed in our cozy, and dark saloon-inspired dining room, or on our outdoor patio. The indoor dining room is adorned with brown leather booths, dark wood paneling, and funky artwork lining the exposed brick walls. Holdren’s has been voted as the best steakhouse multiple times by the Santa Barbara Independent’s Reader’s Poll and by the Santa Barbara News Press’ Reader’s Choice Awards.
