Nothing quite captures the spirit of a Cornish summer than following a summertime dip in its azure waters with a plate of lusciously fresh local seafood. Happily, that's just the experience to be found here at Hooked on the Rocks, which is just yards from the shore of Swanpool beach near Falmouth.

Visit to experience local, sustainable seafood such as Falmouth Bay scallops, Falmouth Bay lobster or crab, whole fish from Newlyn Fish Market or a Shellfish Platter to share, all designed to satiate the appetite of any sandy‑toed gourmet.

Dogs are welcome in our heated awning area or on our sea view terrace.

We felt very rushed. Didn't have enough time to read drinks menu before waiter came, same with food. Plates weren't cleared from snacks to starters. For the prices charged the food should be outstanding.

Great location, great food. Just a shame they decided to charge a 12. 5% service charge. They should pay their staff more and not expect the clientele to subsidise the wages. Let's not get into a USA culture. Spoilt the evening.

A nice place to go for a special birthday. Staff were really friendly and a good range of dishes to choose from. The scallop starter was amazing and the lobster main course was a good size and very tasty.

I felt the food was pretty average. My husband had scallops and fried fish. He said both were good. I had fish curry which was just ok. The dessert we both had was pavlova and was poor. Tasted too sweet and shop bought. The service was good but overall it was an expensive meal.

Attentive service plus excellent, diverse menu of mostly local fish. Great location just back from the beach.

Very expensive wine representing poor value for money. Food was good but main courses rather limited in terms of the choice of fish available. I also did not appreciate the added 12.5% gratuity could be removed from the bill. In these days of guaranteed minimum wages I do feel that gratuities should be at the discretion of the client. Whilst the service we received was fine, it is only to be expected when paying these sort of restaurant prices. Overall, disappointing.

So mixed experience really. The location and service is great. But, SOOO expensive now! I had one glass of white wine and it cost £16! I think that’s a bit too rich for what it was, and the meal portion sizes were really very small for the amount they cost. Automatic 12.5% tip, so all in all, a very expensive lunch which I didn’t feel delivered on the value front. On that basis, won’t rush back.
