Melbourne Hwaro Korean BBQ is a place where one can fully enjoy that authentic Korean taste. Located in the CBD the restaurant is always full, even on the weekdays, as the smell of the BBQ floats down from the terrance stopping people in their tracks.

Just like mother used to make
Taste is something Hwaro is particular about. Taste is what owner and chef Eunsook Kim is mostly concerned with. Her dignified and somber character, reminds many people of their own mothers.

Kim herself is essential to Hwaro. The preparations for all the meat and sauce available at Hwaro are handled by Kim alone. This includes supervision of the slicing of the Karubi (boneless short ribs), and preparation of the 23 different ingredients* needed for the hot pepper Sangyu Pusaru seasoning. Nearly all of the seasonings lined up on the tables are Kim's own creations.

I arranged this for my husband's birthday and we had such a great night. From the moment we walked in, to the moment we left. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was out of this world!! Highly recommend the wagyu and pork selections. We will definitely come back!! Thanks for such a fantastic night!

The food is of good quality and the service is extraordinary. Because the tables are quite close to each other, sometimes it may be a bit noisy and not quite suitable for the seniors with bad hearing. Be sure to book beforehand as it is really popular.

Booked a table for a joint birthday dinner for 10 people and the staff were super accommodating and friendly! Service was perfect and the food was delicious. The meat was great quality and came with a big variety of side dishes including raw marinated snow crab and yukhoe! Staff even joined us to sing happy birthday and offered candles which was very considerate. Highly recommend and will definitely be returning, overall a great experience 💗

Not as good as it used to be menu is now on QR code. The wagyu scotch fillet is paper thin now where as before it was thick. No set menu for 2 people. Rice came out 35 mins later then the food.

The service / food/ atmosphere were all great, we had a catch up dinner there. And the staff was so amazing helping us with grill. We will definitely come back.

Our server was attentive, cooking our food to perfection and ensuring we had everything we needed. The food arrived quickly, and the quality was excellent. The highlight was the personal touch from the manager, who not only checked in on us but also joined in cooking while chatting with us.
