The name “Ichoume” comes from the address of this street. Ichoume is located on ‘1’ Harbour Street, Darling Quarter. That’s why we named the restaurant “Ichoume” (Choume is used for addresses in Japan. It's a way of breaking a municipality into districts. 丁目(Choume) is ‘city district’, so ‘1 choume’(Ichoume) is ‘1st [city] district’).

The design concept of the restaurant is a hangout for adults.

The menu is supervised by AKIKO ISHIKAWA, who has accumulated her career in many restaurants. The head chef is TOMOHIKO KIMURA . He specialises in Japanese - based cuisine with French techniques and flavours. SHINSUKE TODA is recognised among the best sushi chefs now working and is credited with techniques utilised in contemporary sushi and sashimi preparation.

    Ichoume has always been amazing - miso butter scallops, eggplant dish, agedashi tofu, wagyu okonomiyaki and sashimi are always a stand out! Service is always above and beyond what we expect and we always enjoy our night out here! Thank you so much Ichoume! We will definitely be back soon!

    The food was outstanding. Me and my husband have ordered set menu, wagyu beef tatami carpaccio and grilled scallops were delicious. The waitress was friendly and reasonable price.

    Came to Ichoume as a surprise for my husbands birthday with our two toddlers and the staff could not have been more lovely and helpful to us. They had colours and colouring in sheets for our kids, special glasses and bowls for them and even surprised us with some ice cream with a candle for my husband. They even sung to him alongside us. The food also was just amazing that we’re trying to organise another trip to try more delicious treats.

    It was my birthday celebration and they provided memorable service accordingly... We ordered hotpot and it was very authentic. As they had an event collaborated Suntory, I also received beer written birthday message on form! Service and food were all amazing!!

    I had a sensational time at Ichoume for their Suntory Premium pop up event, flying all the way from Melbourne, and it is worth the effort! The food is delicious (oishii) and the team working there is lovely with great service. The venue has a great ambiance and made me feel like dining in Tokyo again; and with the Friday live jazz night, it was fantastic!

    Lunch 'Omakase' sets were delicious and filling, with a great selection of food items on the tray. The grade of uni could have been better though.
