Chef Mario Marfia was born in Sicily, Italy and honed his craft working as a chef in the Mediterranean. He brings those culinary and cultural influences to El Paseo in Palm Desert, and the New Downtown of Palm Springs.
Il Corso restaurant offers genuine Italian hospitality serving a wonderful variety of traditional Italian dishes, fresh salads, homemade pastas, wood oven pizzas and delicious seafood. In addition to our regular menu, Chef Mario prepares nightly specials from all over Italy like “the world’s best gnocchi,” and our house specialty, roasted leg of veal.     Not just an ordinary restaurant. Sophisticated design and atmosphere and add excellent food makes our celebrations that much more special. Always a winner.

    Our waiter, Cristopher was not friendly at all. We didn't see him smile once, and he spoke so low voiced, you really had to listen to understand him. Even when we said he had the drink order wrong, he just shrugged and walked away. The food was great. Very tasty. It was a nice low noise level so that the 6 of us could hear each other and catch up.

    Our dining experience was just so-so. The food and service okay, but not as good as in previous visits. The menu needs an overhaul.

    We have been dining here for a few years and II Corso continues to delight us with a wonderful dining experience. Professional, knowledgeable and friendly staff. The waiters/waitress, cooks and chefs all deserve five stars. 🌟 Thanks again for a wonderful dining experience.

    I think it depends on who is in the kitchen. Overall, food has been delicious but not consistent. I had the veal scallopini twice. The veal: The first time the veal was served in perfect little tender medallions. It was so delicious that I had to order again on my next visit. The second time, very disappointing. The veal were more served as cutlets: big, thick, and heavy. Bleh. The calamari: the first time having grilled calamari was divine. Perfectly grilled. Tender and flavorful. The second visit, the calamari was overcooked. Rubbery. One of our guests could not eat more than one bite. I had a few bites and had to stop. For such a high end, high priced restaurant, one would think the kitchen staff would be consistent in their cooking skills. Boy, they are not …
