   We waited 45 min after our reservation time with no apologies. Once we got to our table we waited 10 min for the waitress to approach the table. Normally I’ve had a good experience here and this was disappointing. Food and cocktails are very good.

   Il Vecchio is my favorite spot for traditional Italian cuisine on the Monterey Peninsula. One dish I always crave is the Caprese Burrata, which features creamy burrata, ripe, juicy tomatoes, fresh basil, micro basil (I always ask for extra), and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil, complemented by balsamic pearls and grilled bread. Whether enjoyed as a starter or a light meal, the Caprese Burrata at Il Vecchio is an indulgent treat that transports you straight to Italy with every bite. Additionally, the staff are always delightful, making it a place where you always feel welcome!

   We are locals and always circle back around to places we like in Monterey, Pacific Grove, Seaside and Carmel. Il Vecchio is one of those places that we know the food will always be good. This trip was less than stellar. It was a Saturday night, but not particularly busy. We (party of two) were sat down on the less busy side of the restaurant, and it was 10 minutes before our waiter noticed us. We ordered a salad to share and two entrees, but nothing from the bar tonight. Another couple next to us, seat on the bar side that had been sat 7 minutes after us, got served the same salad to share that we had ordered minutes before them. In fact they finished their entrees and were on their second glasses of wine before we were served our meal. Staff did come out of the kitchen to apologize, but it was such an odd experience. Our waiter apologized after we had to ask for our check as well, I guess he could read our annoyance from having to ask after just being left and forgotten. The food was as good as ever, and this was just another night out, though if it had been something special, I’d probably have to hold my partner back.

   Great meal! They were down a person so service was a bit slow. But great guys in their team. Very busy in a fun way. Everyone's food was delicious. If we lived here, this would be a regular stop.

    Mixed review: great cocktail, arancini appetizer and dessert. Not a great Caesar salad - decent dressing but the salad was chopped, crumbs instead of croutons and loads of cucumbers. Pastas were al dente. Not much chicken on the cacio e pepe. Lots of scallops and prawns (but no clams) on the saffron pappardelle. It was over sauced and heavy. Nice atmosphere.
