Located on Charleston's Upper King Street, Indaco (Italian for "indigo") serves rustic Italian cuisine. Wood-fired pizzas, hand-crafted pastas, housemade salami and cured sausages fill the restaurant's menu which can be enjoyed family-style or a la carte. With community tables, an open kitchen, and a comfortable atmosphere, Indaco can accommodate 100 guests for a casual night of food and drinks. The wine list is focused on affordable Italian varietals, the Negroni cocktail is on tap, and the fresh sodas are made in-house. The massive wooden doors on Upper King Street are your first indication that Indaco is different from the typical Charleston restaurant. Rustic details continue inside with butcherblock tables, lime-wash walls, and white brick. An open kitchen with nearby community tables lets interested diners keep an eye on the action inside the kitchen. Outside, a patio puts you streetside to watch Upper King Street's vibrant nightlife scene.

From the OpenTable editors: Within the prolific Indigo Road Hospitality Group, Indaco is the rustic Italian institution. Restaurateur Steve Palmer, a James Beard semifinalist, opened the original in Charleston in 2013, and it’s grown to four locations across the South. The secret to success? Woodfired margherita pizza, fresh tagliatelle with an egg yolk nestled on top, and house negronis on tap, all served in a rugged space with butcher block tables and white washed brick.

    Our server was lovely and very knowledgeable. I have no complaints about her or her engagement with the table. It took forever to get our food. We had Music Hall tickets and let our server know when we were seated at 6:15 (8:00) show. We had 15mins to eat and were 5 mins late for the performance. It should not take that long for a pizza. I love your establishment and am hoping it was just an off night.

    The focaccia was so good. We will make it with the ricotta and apple butter at home. The pastas were really good as well.

    First visit to this restaurant. Noise level in main dining room is very high. Despite having a reservation, our table was not available, so we opted to take a table in the covered outdoor patio. It was quieter out there, but also very dark. The staff was attentive, the meal was served very quickly. We both opted for pasta dishes - Radiatori was a good size serving. No bread or salad offered, just a bowl of pasta, and the agnolotti, which sounded & tasted delicious, but was a very small portion comparatively. Did not look like what other pictures of the same dish. Again, no bread or salad offered/included. I thought the price was a bit steep for a quick serving of pasta.

    Food and service were both excellent. Sadly, the air conditioner was blowing directly on us and made us quite uncomfortable. We asked about it and we were told the a/c would cycle off before too long. It did, but not for long. However, we will certainly return, but will ensure we get seated in a different area.

    Food was really delicious.. it’s noisy but a really cool vibe . The pizza was very good although the sauce is bit peppery. Buccatini with shrimp was really good !

    The food was incredible and the staff is so nice and lovely. I love this restaurant and come every time I’m in Charleston. Please visit Indaco if you’re in the area. You won’t be disappointed!

    Noise level is overbearing. Could hardly hear my wife over the din. Our table near the front door was annoying as patrons waiting to get in were practically in our laps. Not sure why you have four hostesses at the check in stand further clogging up the front door area. Food was ok but not worth the circuses. Won’t be back.
