   Insalata never disappoints. We shared the eggplant fries, which are always a treat; hummus, salad, and pasta. All wonderful.

   This was our second time visiting Insalata. The food was consistently excellent but unfortunately both times the service was disappointing. This time it warranted comment. We arrived about 15 minutes early for our 5:45 reservation. The restaurant was empty. When noting our reservation I made a a comment “ I don’t know if we need a reservation but our name is under “Smith”. The hostess replied quickly , “oh yes we’re expecting over 200 people”. She then told a very young girl to seat us at a two top banquet table, very close and between two 6 tops. We asked the young girl if we could be moved to another table. After checking in with the main hostess the young girl took us to the back room, which felt more like a garage, and offered two other tables. One smashed against a pole very close and immediately next to a couple who had just been seated, the other in a corner against a dark curtain and immediately next to a young family with a baby and a toddler. Mind you the restaurant was empty with many spacious two tops available. When we, very nicely asked if we could be seated in the main dining room with a little more space around us the main hostess appeared and sarcastically snapped “ will this one due?!” A little stunned we took our seats. There is more to say but I will leave it at that Im not sure what was going on here. But we did not appreciate the rude service. We will return because the food is excellent but will definitely note our table request when making our reservations and Hopefully will be greeted more generously next time..

    Highly recommend Insalata's. The server was friendly, efficient and understanding of the logistics of a big table (11). We sat down to dine at 9pm because we had come from an event, and we never felt rushed, we took our time and had a great meal. Food: - The Wagyu beef was excellent, from Snake Hill Farms. As I knew where it came from I had it rare and it was just right. - The grilled chicken marinated in yoghurt was tender as always. - The pasta was great. Portions are generous.
