Iris is named for the celebrated Mediterranean flower, and as a gentle nod to the “Evil Eye”, a regional legend known to ward off evil and bring great luck. Located in an iconic building of Midtown Manhattan, Iris is a restaurant that aims to showcase the best preparations of the Eastern Mediterranean region. The ambition behind this culinary initiative is to focus on the style of eating rather than the provenance of each dish. Approachable, wholesome and minimally manipulated, the cuisine will show another facet of the ingredient-forward cuisine that has built John Fraser’s reputation.

    Dinner was great and our server ErickD was attentive without hovering. He was open with his opinions and helpful. My one comment is I would have preferred a different playlist. Overall the food and service was fantastic!

    First, I would like to commend the amazing waitstaff and service at Iris Restaurant. They were attentive, above par, and catered to all our needs. However, the food did not meet my expectations. The appetizer spreads were overly salty, and while the entrées were well-presented, they fell short in terms of taste and value. The beef souvlaki was well-done but tough to eat. The desserts looked appealing but lacked quality and flavor. Overall, the only positive aspect was the restaurant’s proximity to the theater.

    We were pre theatre - the staff were swift to get us out on time but not rushed- Food was special and delicious. Truly a treat. Creative and beautifully presented.

    Absolutely loved the dips and fresh pita. The ambience is lovely and inviting. The only suggestion is to add more vegetarian entrees. The two vegetarian entree portions are tiny and not many options!

    The food was wonderful and service very attentive. Our main concern is about the cost which was a bit higher than suggested by the ratings. The space is clean and bright with little to absorb sounds making it a little loud for conversation. Still a very nice meal!
