   We were visiting Montreal for New Year’s and wanted a nice but relaxed dining experience. Jacopo was the perfect place! The location was great because it gave us easy access to street party afterwards. Our server was friendly and attentive and the food was delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant!

   We enjoyed majority of our meal courses - a bit expensive for what you get. However, the main dish was amazing. The drinks were great. Our waitress was wonderful. Cheers, Happy new year!

   Despite we didn’t know in advance that there would be a new year’s menu we were greeted with a delicious menu.

   We were a big party, they have sat us quick and made some accommodations we asked for. Our server was good and prompt. Ambiance was nice, the restaurant as whole was on a louder level. As far as the food goes, unfortunately subpar for a place like this. The Cesar salad was fresh and crisp dressing just right but nothing special. The fried calamari was also good and fresh, the charcuterie board was over priced expected more for over $60. We have ordered the following pasta’s gnocchi alla norma, the carbonara, Orecchiette rapini, cheese wheel, and the Ragu. The gnocchi tasted like store bought pasta and was hard with almost no eggplant. The carbonara although said to be traditional tasted more like a cacio e pepe I’m not sure if it had any egg in it. The ragu tasted like it was made with ketchup. Overall a let down after all the hype.

   Since it was our first time in Montreal, we were pretty excited for Jacopo as we read lots of good reviews about it. We loved the ambience hands down. But the moment we were seated we mentioned our server ( Gabrielle) that we would be needing help with the menu as we can’t speak French. We clearly mentioned that we want the $22 dollar menu with one soup & two primes ( pasta’s ) to which she time & again confirmed that it will be $22 & once the bill arrived we were charged for each both the primes separately. Further not happy with the food we decided to order one more pasta & she again got our order wrong. And the at time of paying we did ask her that we do not have any smaller bills, onto which she said, I quote “ Don’t worry whatsoever is left I’ll take that as tip, it’s gonna be 15% anyway right?( not the amount we mind though)” — Now, this was something that threw us off completely about the quality of service being provided. I mean we do know that tipping is mandatory whenever dining & which we were gonna do anyways but the simple act of not focusing on the service & being so blunt about the amount of money you accept as tip is something we never experienced so far..

   Made a Sunday 8PM reservation to enjoy Cheese Wheel Special which was a two hour wait until the gentleman preparing our pasta came to our table due to many difficulties the restaurant was experiencing according to management there who offered a complimentary dessert to apologize for such a long wait. The gentleman who prepared our pasta brought cold noodles and severely butchered our pasta into mush which was later put into the same exact container or take-away box with another dish we tried that night (fish, rice, & veggie). We brought this concern to management to raise awareness that our pasta was put into the same container as fish, rice, & veggies in which management apologized on behalf of staff. Our experience was less than satisfactory and I would highly recommend other places to restaurant. The front desk/hostess was inattentive, unwelcoming, and impolite. The food is overrated and overpriced. I imagine people frequent this restaurant for meeting up for drinks more than anything else because we were not the only ones waiting hours for our food or any service. We had high hopes but were less disappointed by the whole experience.

    We would’ve liked server to be more in touch with us asking us if we like it if we need anything. The food was OK the risotto was not a risotto it was more a quinoa…fish was good. The carbonara pasta were good but very salty. the sauce and the gnocchi were very good. deAndre’s Caesar salad, bruschetta and calamari were very good. We like when the waiter is engaging with us.
