We really enjoyed our experience here tonight. We cozied up to the bar and our tender, Jake, was awesome. Attentive, friendly and looked after us. Will be back again. Thanks, Jake!

Lots of delicious choices on the brunch menu — from Baltimore typical (crab omelet) to traditional Irish. We enjoyed Irish coffees and an Oktoberfest flight. Our server was friendly and made good recommendations. Definitely would come back for brunch.

The whole experience was worthwhile. The Shepherd's Pie and Fish and Chips were delicious and plentiful. The brown bread and butters gave us energy. Overall, we would definitely dine here again.

Live music is great. Location is great. Food was quite good. Service was sub par. They were nice but not attentive. Our server took too long to ask if all was ok with our dishes so much so that we had to get up and go find someone when our dish was incomplete. The manager appeared to not have control of anything. The servers were backed up at the bar and chatting rather than ensuring their tables were good. While we enjoyed the food; we will not be back.

Despite having a reservation with OpenTable, with a note for an intimate table for two, the hostess seated us by the front door next to the band speakers. When asked to be moved to another table (restaurant was empty), the hostess moved us to a table in the corner of the restaurant with no view and next to the toilets... We ended up sitting up at the bar and left after decent dinner to find a more enjoyable and welcoming venue for our Friday night out on the town. When asking for an extra slice of bread for the delicious sauce on the mussels, we were charged an extra fee for the bread.... not cool! The live music was supposed to start at 8PM; however, the non-energetic artist was still setting up at 8:25PM when we decided to move on to a more enjoyable and happening venue. Thanks, James

An Irish Pub that doesn’t serve half pints!?! The service staff was more interested in trying to get the football game on than in creating a cozy setting where people can talk. The volume of the TVs were too loud.

Noise level was not "energetic," sound wasn't very audible. We primarily went to hear music, and acoustics aren't great The acoustics certainly were not good enough to overcome an All-American and boorish party next to us. By the way, the Irish are never boors, just possibly over exuberant sometimes. The boors were clearly uninterested in a mixed pub atmosphere. There are things restaurants can do about boors. There were OpenTables both opposite and closer to the band. Unfortunately, one of our party didn't want to create a "fuss" with a request. Since we had let the greeters know of our interest, they surely might have invited us to change to another available table. Otherwise, service was excellent. We travelled from Bethesda, and currently view Mondays at Glenn Echo Irish Inn superior to James Joyce. Of course, James Joyce has music every night, and we have only one visit to work off.

A group of us in town old or our daughters high school soccer game. They were very accommodating with our reservation. Food was wonderful! James Joyce beer very good too! Server Brittany terrific. Thank you for making our trip so memorable! I highly recommend shrimp appetizer. And Shepard pie.

The pub was cute. Our server was excellent. But the food needed more oomph! My omelette was skimpy for the price point. I asked for cheese in my omelette, they forgot or put so little I couldn't notice. The potatoes were tasty but also skimpy. My toast was cold and served dry...who serves toast without butter? My boyfriend was served a HUGE pancake (snikerdoodle). It was overly sweet and got cold instantly. Both our meals were served luke warm. The herbal tea was great, but they gave me one tea bag, only. Overall, it just seemed needlessly stingy. I normally fast until evening and this was a waste of breaking my fast.
